Investigative Judgment In Criminal Justice

What is the investigative judgment? Is it a time? When is it? Who is judging who? What can I do to prepare for it? What is the reward or punishment? There are many questions that surround the investigative judgment, and many fear it, either because they are unrepentant or ignorant. Though the investigative judgment may appear confusing and daunting, we can take heart, because the Spirit of Prophecy has laid out clearly, the details of what is to occur. The investigative judgment is a period of time in Heaven and on earth that began in 1844 and extends until the second coming of Christ in which God shall judge the faithful according to their works after which the righteous shall be taken to Heaven and the wicked shall remain asleep. The investigative judgment began in 1844 and will end at Christ’s second advent. “At the time appointed for the judgment--the close of the 2300 days, in 1844. . .” (White 486). During the judgment, the Ancient of days shall sit witness. “I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire” (Daniel 7:9, 10). The Ancient of Days is not God the Son, but God the Father. “The Ancient of Days is God the Father” (White 479). God the Father has appointed God the Son to facilitate the judgment. “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son” (Daniel 5:22).
