I believe that America is a bad country. America is not a good country because it has a large amount of violence, lack of opportunities, and so much discrimination. Indeed, America is a bad country because it has a large amount of violence. Not a day goes by that I don’t hear about someone who got murdered. I’m afraid to go outside at night because I don’t want anything malicious to happen to me. My neighborhood is known to have a plethora of gangbangers. Everywhere I go, there’s always gangbangers looking for trouble. Once, I went to the park to watch a baseball game with my family. Next thing you know, shots are being fired. Rival gangbangers were fighting and harming each other. Everyone who was at the park ran because they were still
As an American, I believe that the American spirit is what drives our country to be united. Being patriotic and standing together when times get tough, is what I think the American spirit is. When great disasters happen or tragedy hits, its the glue that holds us together and keeps us fighting as a country. Within this paper I will discuss three different authors points of views, on what they believe the American spirit is. The following authors are Anthony Burgress, Adam Goodheart, and Bonnie Miller Rubin.

America can be described in many different ways, but America in definition is a land mass occupied by a mixture of different ethnicities who all believe in similar ideals such as living in a land enriched with opportunities where you a free from persecution and able to live out your beliefs. These American ideals have evolved over time with the influence of several different civilizations with varying beliefs. Land of the free and home of the brave. America is a country that is known for its freedom worldwide. Many abandoned their own country in order to try and live a perfect life in America, where they will not be discriminated against no matter what nationality, sex or religion an individual is. America was not always this promising to minorities mid 1800’s. America had huge faults such as slavery which later was one of the reasons the north and south separated and went to war with each other.
I have lived in two distinct communities: the first was the small town of Moraga in the East Bay area of California, the second, and my current residence, is the city of Stockton. The former, Moraga is the epitome of white picket fence suburbia, with friendly neighbors, a high ranking public school system, and a practically non-existent crime rate. Growing up in Moraga, I was able to receive a great education, roam the streets freely with friends, and never had to fear horrors, such as, gang violence, sporadic neighborhood shootings, or drug abuse. Sadly, when I moved to the latter, most of these horrors were apparent weekly, if not daily.
How can improvements be made without the people who want the improvements don’t make an effort? Giving American citizens the responsibility to improve their own lives may cause setbacks, but it is the outcome of these setbacks that enable change and allow further quality of life. Without American citizens taking initiative to improve their own lives, they will be never be satisfied with the quality of their own lives. Many improvements in this world such as freedom and rights were not established through citizens counting on authority to make this change. It was the people who were affected by this dilemma that took action that ended up giving a new meaning to life.
American history is full of power. The struggle to get power, to keep power, or to take it away. America is a great country, though it has gone through dark times. One example of this would be the story of Emmett Till. Emmett Till was just a young boy who was murdered because of hatred.
In John Gardner's novel Grendel he has many examples of how violence is in our society everywhere. “The state is an organization of violence, a monopoly in what it is pleased to call legitimate violence” - Gardner. In Grendel he gives many examples of how Hrothgar abuses his power and uses violence to control his people. America, in many ways, is like Hrothgar’s kingdom.
Together we can change for the better. America is a country with many strong qualities. Although America is looked up to by countless countries, and idolized by outsiders looking in, for most of citizens that is not the case. We are a free country with many qualities still held from our founding fathers that were laid out
Literary Essay How our society and country got to where it is today involved a small stepping stone along the way for decades. Throughout American civilization, the culture, literature, religion and the way of life has varied through bloodshed, warfare, colonization and imperialism. Varying cultures have lived and died on American soil such as the Spanish, Native Americans and British. Throughout the time of colonialism a cultural encounter occurred, the interaction and a risen conflict between two cross cultures.
Dear fellow nasty women and bad hombres, America is one the greatest experiments in freedom and liberty history has ever known. We are a nation that was built on the minds and ideals of immigrants. Our Founding Fathers created America so that everyone could have a chance at "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Those are aspects of my country, I would never change because they are what make us unique. The glow of America casts a ripple of hope upon those who struggle.
Impacts of Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece on America Most of America considers itself a “Great” nation. Whether this means powerful, intelligent, flourishing, thriving, et cetera, is unclear. In order to explore where America obtained the inspiration for its greatness, I am going to walk through the influence of the great Greek and Roman cultures and Empires (so to speak). These ancient civilizations were among the first that had governments of democracy and sophistication, of elections and thriving economies on a mass scale.
America is the place that seems to give opportunities and equal changes to all. They have more freedom than others (but not total freedom). America is a united people working together. I believe America is a place where all people have a chance to succeed in life. I also believe that in America people have the freedom to stand up for their beliefs and fight for them.
