August 2004, 11 year-old Jim Thomas grips his four fingers on his rugged Wilson football. He steps back, looks, feels the wind graze upon his face, he fires a bullet to his father Mike. “Touchdown!” they shout and rejoice in the backyard of their little house in Philly. September 2017, Jim stared at the rusted stone dug far into the ground that read “In loving memory of Michael Thomas.” “Hey dad, you wanna go play some football outside?” Jim asked. “Sure kiddo, get the ball,” Mike, his father responded. Jim loved playing football with his dad. For hours the boys would play football in the backyard. “4th and six, game on the line, I believe in you Jim,” Said Mike. Jim looks, runs away from pressure, lobs one up in the endzone… touchdown! “I …show more content…
“Jim Thomas rolls out of the pocket, scans the field, and he takes off! The 40, 30, 25, 20, 10, 5, touchdown!” the announcer cried out. Jim went on to throw two more touchdowns. “Ladies and gentlemen, hang onto your seats, Jim thomas can complete the comeback here,” said the announcer. Four seconds left, 24-21, at the 20 yard line, “I believe in you Jim, no matter what happens I’m proud of you,” his dad said very softly. Jim step backs, jukes a defender, rolls out, he fires a bullet in the endzone, “Touchdown! Can you believe it, Jim Thomas!” the announcer shouted. Jim got home and told his mom all about the game, “That’s my boy! I’m so proud of you,” She rejoiced. Jim began to talk but only to be cut off by the ringing of his phone. “Hello? Yes, this is he, yes, okay, are you serious? Oh my gosh! Thank you so much, yes okay, thank you.” “Who was that?” his mother asked. “That was the guy from clemson, I got a scholarship!” Jim explained. “Are you serious? Oh my this is great! This is amazing!” his mother exclaimed. They celebrated through the night not knowing what devastating news would soon come upon them. Jim was in the middle of math, 10:45, “Jim Thomas, please come down to the office, Jim Thomas,” the loud speaker

The first person coach saw was Jamel he ordered him to “get in the game.” Jamel answered with “I can’t I’m a lineman not a running back.” The coach soothed his nerves by telling him “you can do this the team is relying on you.” So he went into the game, the play was a 22 dive. Jamel was getting the ball.
It was increasingly nail-biting for the Patriots fans, especially knowing their previous winning streaks in the past, they had certainly not been so sluggish in a while after turning the ball twice and failing to stop the Falcons run game. At this point, the Patriots averaged with only 2.5 yards per carry, and the daring Falcons reached 9.6 yards. Ryan continued to lead the Falcons in the third quarter, and they trotted 85 yards down the field, and the quarterback yet again made an amazing pass to Tevin Coleman resulting in a touchdown and turning the score to 3-28 to the Patriots. This put the game out of reach and at this point one would think the Patriots would make a
Quickly in the game, the Dallas Cowboys were facing a 10-0 deficit. After Tony Romo took a shot to the ribs and took several minutes to get up, Chris Jones' punt was blocked by Seattle and returned for a touchdown. However, the 6th 100 yard game by Murray and the memorable toe drag catch by Terrance Williams put the Dallas Cowboys ahead to keep their winning streak
The first half ends with no team scoring. Then the 3rd quarter begins and the Cardinals receive the ball, their running back Andre Ellington does a marvelous job on breaking tackles, he runs without ever looking back, as he runs all the way Patriot fans begin to nod in disappointment but some still have faith in their team. The Patriots receive the ball and run it to the 30 yard line. The next play is going to go to Danny, as he receives the ball he runs and gets a gain of another 30 yards. There
The overall message of this book is that hard work leads to success and that is a very important life lesson. These creators worked through many obstacles, persevered and succeeded in their goal. There were many emotions during the end of the game for the fans and owners. “A man was crying tears of joy” (Eisenberg 326), and that man was one of the NFL creators, Bert Bell. He showed real emotion that day because this meant a lot to him and he was so happy with the outcome.
In his days as a player, he became one of the most successful tight ends of all time and a player with great morals that kids looked up to. He played for the Dallas Cowboys; then he played for the Chicago Bears where he eventually went on to coach for them in the 1980’s. Ditka made “427 receptions, had 5812 receiving yards, and scored 43 touchdowns” in his career, which were unprecedented totals for a tight end at the time (“Mike Ditka” 1). When his career was over, Ditka went into coaching. His “wildly popular” 1985 Chicago Bears included the legendary running back “Walter Payton and one of the best defenses in NFL history” (“Mike Ditka” 2).
BODIES OF MISSING BOYS FOUND Yesterday, bodies of missing boys were found in James Bay by a local hunter. But Brady, who had looked a pale imitation of himself for much of the game, suddenly fired into life in the second half to produce a performance that will go into National Football League folklore. The Falcons, who had gone into the game boasting one of the most potent offenses in history, were left distraught and still waiting for their first Super Bowl crown. They had appeared to be roaring to the championship with quarterback Matt Ryan pulling apart the Patriots in the first half.
As soon as she was done talking, he rushed to us and informed us about the farmers and how we had to rescue Jim before it was too late. After hearing about the armed men, I had a rush that went
When people think of football, they might think of the glitz and glamour, and players who are paid to do what they love. The game of football is enjoyed and celebrated all over the world and has been since 1863. Football is more than a game--it is a culture, a way of life for fans. Fans determine which players are more popular, but statistics determine who is the greatest of all time. Football, one of the nation's most watched sports, embodies a plethora of important players who rely on their quarterback for direction; of the renowned quarterbacks of the NFL, three of the most successful are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Joe Montana.
Of course, Joey was taken out and all he could do was watch the rest of the game know what tomorrow would be like. The final score of the game was 6-38. The other team demolished them. The next day was torture. “Ha-ha you’re team sucks,” said John, one of Conner’s friends.
In the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 36, and the score tied 17-17 against the heavily favored St. Louis Rams or “The Greatest Show On Turf.” The Rams were heavily favored with the big four who consisted of Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Issac Bruce, and Tory Holt. They were facing off against the 2nd year quarterback who barely even made the NFL, Tom Brady. With one minute and 21 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the Patriots on their own 17 yard line with no timeouts. All year long Brady had been relying on his running back and defense.
“Tell us. Tell us what’s happening! Say something…” At that moment, we were anxious to hear something encouraging, a few words telling us that there was nothing to worry about… But one glance at my father’s face left no doubt.”
“Bear down, Chicago Bears, make every play clear the way to victory. Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly. We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T formation.
