If Gage’s accident happened to me I would not want to live. Even though he made a full recovery he was totally different. His personality changed, I would not want to experience the pain he felt.
On September 18, 1848, Phineas should have been dead, but he was not. The shock and trauma should have been enough, but it was not. Phineas was able to talk and walk. He was fully conscious. I can only imagine the pain that he was in, even though he did not show it. I would not want to survive this accident if it happened to me. Mostly because I would not be able to have a positive outlook on life.
