Johnny Cade is 16 years old, a greaser, and lives in the East Side of the town which is where the poor class lives. He was not very good in school, but was a quiet boy trying his best to not get in a “mess”. He would be very nervous when talking to people/strangers he didn’t know about, especially the Socs. He died being a hero to all young and old saving lives although his life was taken away. Johnny Cade was born in March 1,1949 and died in the year of 1965. He died as a hero to those defenseless kids who he saved from the burning church. As he took out the last kids trapped inside the church, the church burning in flames of fire fell on top of Johnny causing him to get a 3 degree burn. Since, this was too much for a 16 year-old kid, he unfortunately didn’t survive and died. …show more content…
He wasn't a big fan of getting in somebody's way because he got scared since he was jumped by the Socs. In a time, he and Ponyboy were alone in the park until some Socs got to them and were beating them up. Johnny had a switchblade with him so he used it in that time to kill Bob, (and save Pony) who was drowning Ponyboy in a waterfall. After this, the rest of the Socs ran away while Ponyboy and Johnny went towards Dally to get help. Later on, Johnny saved the kids from the church on fire meaning that he turned into a hero. Johnny Cade’s family were his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Cade, who he disliked because they never cared about him. His parents were those that were abusive and alcoholic. He was very sensitive about this so his people called him a “lost puppy”. Since this was his case, he truly felt that the gang greasers were his family. He was also the gang’s pet. Out of all, Dallas Winston was a person who loved Johnny like his own brother and Johnny loved him back,
Johnny Cade, one of the members of the gang called the “greasers” who died at age 16, 1949 who died from burn injuries and a broken back. Johnny’s parents didn’t want anything to do with Johnny but the gang loved Johnny for who he is, especially Dally. The gang always had each other’s back and his friends are Dallas Winston, Ponyboy, Sodapop, Darry, Two-Bit, and Steve and were in a rival with the Socs. Johnny Cade’s life accomplishments were saving Ponyboy from drowning by killing Bob (a Soc) and rescuing kids from a burning church without think twice. Johnny’s family members were Mr. Cade and Mrs. Cade who don’t care for him and ignore him but mostly the gang were his family because they cared and loved him.
Johnny, the second youngest Greaser, gets jumped by Socs, and has feared them since the incident. Johnny, the loyal gang member, gets described as the gang 's pet. Yet, he still believed in doing the right thing and was the most law-abiding kid in the group. For example, one
If he hadn’t helped him then Johnny would have died sooner in the book. Books can be different and the same as movies. In the book and movie there were many similarities and differences and many themes. Some similarities are the movie scene, Johnny kills Bob, Ponyboy and Johnny run away to a church, and They both cut their hair. The differences are Dally pushes Ponyboy in the movie but not in the book, Johnny’s killing scene is more described in the book, Johnny brings more things to the church than in the book, and Johnny says he wants to kill himself in the movie.
Johnny, from the Outsiders by S.E Hinton, is the gang's pet and a loner. Johnny is a loner because he is different from the gang, always nervous about something, and just wants to be loved. He is very kind, but got beat up by 4 Socs, and he hasn’t been the same since. He also doesn’t have a good home life, as his parents either ignore him or beat him up. The gang is his family and a lot of times he doesn’t go home because his parents don’t even notice.
In page 56 it states “ I’m drowning, I thought, they’ve gone too far …” and “ I killed him,” he said slowly. “I killed that boy.” This shows where Johnny saved Ponyboy from drowning. Johnny is also a hero when he helped get the little kids get out of the church that was on fire. In the text it states “ He looked over his shoulder and saw that the door was blocked by the flames, then pushed open the window and tossed out the nearest kid.”
Johnny probably had one of the worst lives of the greasers, yet he still managed to stay optimistic even after being beaten on an almost daily basis. Johnny would also stand up for people even after being isolated for most his life, as shown when Dallas was harassing Cherry and Marcia. Finally the most loyal of them all, even on his deathbed he stuck by his friends and only allowed them to vist and not his horrible mother that ignored him for most his life. After an abusive childhood most people would give up but Johnny cade stood amongst the Greasers with pride, not
Young Johnny Cade was attacked by a juvenile gang, lead by Robert Sheldon (our victim) leaving Mr. Cade scared and enraged. (This is what lead him to carry a six inch switchblade in his pocket at all times. ABout four months later, he and his accomplice, Ponyboy Curtis, began socializing with Robert's girlfriend, Sherry Valance. Robert was indeed intoxicated at the time, so consumed by rage he later attacked Curtis and Cade in a park located in the east side of town. Robert’s ally, David tried to drown Curtis.

Hook: Would you ever convict an innocent boy who acted out of defense of himself and his friend of murdering person who constantly attacks him? The answer should be no. Background information: Known as his “greaser gang’s” pet, Johnny Cade grew up in a household with no role models. Not only was he constantly bullied at home, he was attacked outside as well. Johnny was continuously being assaulted by Socs looking for trouble and he would never fully recover from the trauma in which he has been through.

In conclusion, S.E. Hinton created a character that left a perennial impression on the reader in Johnny Cade. The challenges he faced were easy for young adults especially to relate to. The changes he induced a make him the perfect example of a true dynamic character. His warm heart and braveness despite the tragedy of his death made him an unforgettable
A clear sign of the gangs influence on Johnny was when he decided to prevent the Soc’s from drowning Ponyboy and defending himself instead of letting the Socs beat them up and have them possibly drown Ponyboy. More specifically, after finally fighting back and killing Bob, he says to Ponyboy “‘I killed him’ he said slowly. ‘I killed that boy”’(Hinton 56). Here the author is explaining how shocked Johnny was once he killed the Soc.
After Johnny had killed Bob, and they ran away, Johnny says something to Ponyboy in the church that surprises him. After Johnny left to get supplies, he says, “We’re gonna cut our hair, and your gonna bleach yours.” (71) Johnny saying this, shows that he is starting to take action after what had happened at the park. It shows that reality is hitting Johnny, and this actually makes him slightly tougher in a way. Johnny, being a shy person usually doesn’t take action to solve the problem at han, but by doing this, it shows he is less soft and more hardy than we thought.
From his parents, he barely gained the warmth of being in a complete family. As Ponyboy said, “His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him, except when she was hacked off at something, and then you could hear her yelling at him clearly down at our house. He hates that worse than getting whipped… If it hadn’t been for the gang, Johnny would never have known what love and affection are” (Hinton P.12), we can clearly known that Johnny’s parents were extraordinarily violent to Johnny. Due to the charac- teristic of Johnny’s father, the hereditary gene of violence affected fixed some of Johnny’s personal- ity.
