William Butler Yeats was a poet and writer, a quite good one at that; but, all poets have a place where they grow up and find a sense of the world that is also contributed in their poetry or writing and for Yeats that was Ireland. The way his poetry is constructed has a lot to do with his childhood, where he would go as a child, places he would see and the nostalgia he possessed from that as he got older. The sense of adventure and loss, as well as, love with Maud Gonne. Maud Gonne was someone who was very important in Yeats’ life, he was madly in love with this particular human being. His poetry proves that is so. Gonne was not only someone that he loved, she was also someone that made him who he was, they liked similar things and Gonne loved him—it is assumed she did—almost as much as he loved her, assumingly. It was something that he always felt he should have done, maybe apart of them thought Gonne would still be with him if they did. Yeats wrote countless poems for Gonne such as, “The Lover mourns for the Loss of Love” and “When You are Old” are just two amongst the many he has written for his true love. Yeats asked Gonne more than a handful of times to marry him and she rejected him each time (1891-1901), for her own personal reasons. The thing Gonne was she was quite hypercritical, she didn’t believe in marriage, which is understandable as to why she denied him. She also thought sexual love was unfulfilling as well and should only exist for procreation. Gonne was secretive, she said one thing and it is unsure if she even believed that herself. She actually ended up marrying John MacBride, after denying Yeats for so long. Before that Yeats and Gonne did marry, not actually, but in spirituality they did. Yeats took this seriously, but Gonne didn’t and went off to marry MacBride; which, caused Yeats to write no poetry for almost five

Love is a specialty Love consists of many stories and good times with your family and friends, but it also consists of many challenges along the way. In “Sketches”, Eric Walters explores the impacts that love can cause people who truly care about others and or are facing the same challenges as Dana. Furthermore, love can help in times of need and this is evident in Walter’s characterization of Dana and the gloomy yet helpful setting of Toronto. Eric Walters’ use of love in the setting, especially when they are alone on the streets at night and when Dana is in the sketches building, lets Dana, Brent, and Ashley realize that they love each other. He uses love as a primary setting when Dana, Brent, and Ashley are on the streets alone at night,

In Scene 1, Marilla states that “She would never dream of taking in a girl!” When Marilla discovered that her brother, Matthew, had brought in a girl. Marilla originally return the girl in exchange for a boy. But later on in the act, she ends up developing a passion for Anne after she tells the story about how she ended up where she is now. I think Marilla develops a passion for the girl because she felt sorry for the girl.

During the time when the poem was written, women were viewed as a property of men. In the poem To the Ladies, Mary Chudleigh wants to reach out to all women to warn them about the institute of marriage. However, women in a society and marriage have changed drastically over years. In the poem Love in My Lifetime Allie expresses his feeling about the life he has been given. We see Allie convey his emotions of how life has cheated him while in contrast, Allie accepts his determined death and is put at peace by the fact that he is loved dearly by his whole family, especially his brother Holden. The line “Planted on earth to grow in heaven” is an expression referring to Allie’s belief that he has been born just long enough to get a taste for life just for it to be taken away. This feeling is amplified by the whole second stanza. Comparatively at the end of each stanza Allie is reminded of the fact that even his life will soon be over the love he has given and received will last much longer.

Whereas Moore introduced us to the gender in the line “I wonder what Adam and Eve think of it by this time”. “Adam” and “Eve” plays the role as a man and woman in the poem. In Gibran poem, the line “Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls” indicates that the communication between two souls are not bounded with anything and is free to know each other. Whereas in Moore’s poem she tells us that a person would try all kind of things to avoid their marriage as they find that love is an emotional experience and this can be seen in the line “requiring all one’s criminal ingenuity to avoid!”. In the line
