People are not always there to help you make the correct decision and in “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck , George realizes that. George has always felt obligated to support his cousin Lennie. Lennie is unable to make good decisions for himself. George comes to the understanding he won't always be there to support Lennie. George has been committed to being there for Lennie his entire life. “ Lennie, for God sakes don’t drink so much” (pg 3). He shows that he cares by telling him to not drink too much because the water is not flowing meaning all sludge that was caught in that stream of water is still there making Lennie prone to becoming sick. The reason he takes care of Lennie is because he promised Aunt Clara. “He slashed at Lennie with his left , and then smashed down his nose with a right”(pg 69). “ George was on his feet yelling,” Get him, Lennie…”(pg 69). He shows anticipation for Lennie to defend himself because Lennie is precious to him. …show more content…

He does innocent thing for instance “ He was so little...I was just playin’ with him… an’ he made like he’s gonna bite me...an’ I made like I was gonna smack him...an’...an’ I done it”(5.25-6). He didn’t mean to kill the puppy, he just wanted him to stop biting him. Not only does he make mistakes with animals but with humans as well as to why they left Weed.
