Cloud based applications such as Google Docs allows multiple people that are physically in different locations the ability to collectively work on a document at the same time (Olenewa, Olson, Olson, & Russell, 2017). This is a huge benefit in both the work force and educational settings. A great advantage with Google Docs and Office 365 is that these applications are web based, and no software is required on the computer (Winterberg, 2013). The team of writers collectively working on a project can become upset when one of the other participants makes certain changes to their contribution. Some people may even be embarrassed if their level of spelling is below the others in the group or simply not able to work as quickly (Olenewa et al., 2017). Trust can also have a negative affect in using Google Docs. Without trust in your fellow writers, fears of intentionally tarnishing the work because of a negative competition can destroy a project. Editing can also be a negative issue and cause tension among the users (Olenewa et al., 2017).
