Ice Hockey is one of the most entertaining sports you could see or play. I would only assume most people love at least one sport but there has been quite an issue on which sport is the best. Ice Hockey is debatably the best sport ever created because of its intensity of the sport, the amazing experience of playing at a competitive level, and Hockey is always changing. People who watch hockey, without knowing the rules of the game, usually can understand that the speed and intensity of the game is very high. On average, a normal hockey player at any level will spend about forty-five seconds on the ice. Forty-five seconds goes by quick, and the player has to make the shift count because every player has to do his part for the benefit of the whole. There are three lines of forwards and three pairs of defensemen who on average get a one and a half minute break in between shifts each, so the rotation and shift times are fast. This is to ensure everyone …show more content…
New hockey sticks are built lighter and stronger, with different types of flex, and new types of blades on the stick. This helps the player adapt and change the way they shoot and pass. New skates help immensely because they also become lighter and become better fitting, one can “bake” the skates or heat them up to have them conform to the player’s foot better, and they can even sharpen the blades to around nine different “cuts”. Having all these factors come together, I believe Ice Hockey is the best sport because it takes a very skilled and intelligent individual to play at a competitive level. It is a very fun sport to play and watch because of how the game is played, the flow of the game can change at any minute and the teams can choose when and what plays to create. The split second decisions that players make fans tense not knowing what could happen next in the game. No other sport has the unpredictability as much as Hockey
Goal scoring and skill were never so easy before! To some people, hockey city is called Canada. Out of all of the hockey players that played their entire lives with hockey, only some selected few get close to getting drafted in the CHL when they're young. One of the players that got drafted first overall in the OHL and then first overall in the NHL is Connor McDavid. It is his first year, and he is one of the best with his puck skills that consists of his shooting, passing, and overall players with his skill.
The Miracle on ice was a memorable event that popularized hockey. In 1980, the youngest U.S.A. Olympic hockey team went up against the experienced Soviets. Considered the underdogs, the U.S.A. coach, Herbert Brooks worked to make the U.S.A. the most successful team on the rink. The miracle on ice became one of the defining moments in hockey history. Herb Brooks was the coach of the 1980 U.S.A Olympic hockey team.
What can we attribute this to? The Talent There are more men – and women, playing as a result of the high cost of the battlefield. The talent pool has gotten bigger and the support and determination that these men and women carry onto the rink is undeniable. Nothing keeps the spirit of a true competitor from expressing itself, and sled hockey is a perfect
To this day the miracle on ice is still a legendary game, and will forever hold a dear place in Americas history. During the miracle on ice the U.S.A. was in a cold war against the Soviet Union, so this game was to be taken extremely serious by each country. The reason for that is it showed something
Last but not least I believe that fighting in hockey can be a way of punishment for dirty plays. Dirty plays are somewhat common in hockey and may not always be caught by refs. A lot of fights start this way and it holds both the fighter and the cheater accountable for their actions. This often means that the cheater may not cheat anymore making the game fairer.
You never really know the true value of something, until you almost loose it. Growing up I was always involved with competitive sports. I would always make the highest-level hockey team that I could for my age group. Hockey has always been something that I was naturally talented at. When I was fourteen I moved one 1,932 Km away from my family, friends, and home to play for a prestigious hockey academy.

The date was February 22, 1980 in a snowy Lake Placid New York; “Morrow up to Silk, you’ve got five seconds left in the game, do you believe in miracles? Yes!” and so it began. Al Michael’s call ended the game, but the games impact just began to be recognized across America. The United States Men’s Olympic Hockey Team had just beaten the Soviet Union’s Olympic team 4 to 3 in a major upset that shocked the world.
The sports is most definitely not cheap and is actually ranked as the most expensive sport for kids to play. Now an expensive sport can be a barrier to pretty much anyone out there, but in the United States, “there’s a stark race-to-wealth differential”(Judd). Non-white people today, on average, are not as wealthy or receive as great of an income as white people which makes it harder to play such an expensive sport. One study from 2013 actually shows that black people in america received the lowest average annual income when compared to other races. But, money is not the only reason that is holding non-white athletes back from hockey.
It all began in Colorado Springs, 1979 as Herb Brooks interviewed with the Unites States Olympic Committee of Hockey. In an era were the Cold War is going on and the Soviet Union is dominating the sport of hockey, Herb walks into the meeting demanding changes in the way the US hockey team prepares and trains. He shares his philosophy
What I already know: Lacrosse has been around for decades, played by those who look for a real sport. It’s been said to be the fastest game on two feet, which is no understatement. It requires strength, endurance, and heart to be able to play the game of lacrosse. All these reasons are why I love to play lacrosse and why it has been my favorite sport for years. I can remember when I first started back in second grade, I didn’t think about why I was playing, it was just another sport to me.
The rules were simple, that the ball may not be touched by hand while throwing and catching the ball with netted rackets, trying to make it in the net for a goal. These rules were created by the tribes Seneca and Mohawks in the year of 1763. Back then they sometimes would use Lacrosse to toughen up young boys who were going to go fight for their country. In Lacrosse, there are only four positions to fill,

Roller hockey and floor hockey are also really popular in the summer and spring. There are many leagues for hockey, in the winter there are numerous leagues with various levels based on your skill. Coaches are good at advancing players to the next level, coaches have usually played the game themselves so they can provide players with a lot of hockey knowledge to make them better players. Being on a team of any type is special but being on a hockey team is even better. Being on a hockey team is very special
I became obsessed. There was always something about that crunch on the ice when I took that step into my cross-over, the speed of the game, the intensity, and the gift of being able to play alongside 20 of my brothers to achieve the common goal of doing something bigger than all of us. I opened that heavy entrance door for the ice rink and immediately felt that rush of eagerness to lace up the skates. With this in mind, I took a step onto that ice and my tryout debut was incredible. I was ecstatic feeling that all my hard work was starting
