I.Introduction One of the greatest controversies in modern day is illegal immigrants. There are an approximate 11.4 undocumented immigrants that live in our country today. Now with your new action in place, I think it’s a good thing. Mainly because it allows lasting illegal immigrants to stay here, it allows jobs to go to documented americans, and gives children hope for a better future ahead. II. Reason #1 and Evidence One of the reason stated is that this law allows immigrants to be legal here if they've stayed here for 5+ years. This is important because 4.2 million immigrants have been here for 5+ years. In Obama’s speech he stated, “If you've been in America for over 5 years… you will be able to stay in this country.” Even though this new …show more content…
A survey found that 51 percent of Americans think that their jobs have been taken by unworthy undocumented immigrants who have cheated their way into this country.. “Rasmussen Reports survey found that 51 percent of Americans believe they are competing for their jobs against illegal immigrants living in the country.” Wrote International Business Times. Illegal immigrants take jobs in service, construction, and manufacturing. IV. Possibly Reason #3 and Evidence The last reason stated is that Children have hope for a better life and future ahead. Surprisingly, 5.3 million of these children are living with unauthorized parents. And these children usually get a high school or college degree, but can’t get a job because of the scare of being deported. “ More than half the undocumented immigrant population has a high school diploma or higher.” Wrote Center for American Progress. V. Counterargument/Rebuttal Even though I think this action is a great idea and plan for our country some people would say otherwise. These people are under the impression that not all immigrants who are allowed to stay, still won’t be able to
Many people can not offer their children good lives except from the USA. Dr. Argle received a letter from a father from Africa. The letter stated that the most helpful thing the father could do for his children is have them be US citizens. The US offers many more safety nets and protection than other countries. Also, there were no immigration laws at the time of this amendments creation because it has always been fact that the US was a home for the persecuted and poor.
The immigration system is not something people think about every day, but it is a huge problem for the individuals coming to America. Many people want to come to America because of the opportunities, one being education. Immigrants may have the opportunity to come to America, but cannot afford to go to college to receive the education deserved. There needs to be an education plan provided to immigrants. This new program, called Sponsoring Hope, will provide immigrants with sponsors who pay for them to attend school.
First, Bier includes credible facts on why the bill wouldn’t help the government on bringing down the immigration rate. He states that in 1990 there were a quarter less americans and they claim that in the year 2017 a million immigrants came to the U.S, but it’s not nearly as close to the rate of immigrants in 1990. The
According to a study released last year by the Pew Hispanic Center, as of 2008, 11.9 million illegal immigrants lived in the United States, more than triple the 3.5 million who lived in the country in 1990 (Izumi). Immigration throughout the years has become a major issue in the U.S because of too many immigrants entering the country year after year. The U.S has come to a point whether they should deport the immigrants back to their country. Believe it or not, these immigrants are a big contribution to the U.S. If it wasn’t for them, the U.S economy wouldn’t be where it stands now.
Web. 7 Nov. 2016. Beadle’s article states ten reasons on why the United States needs a comprehensive immigration reform. Besides just stating reasons why we need a comprehensive immigration reform, she goes in to thoroughly explain her points and backs up her points by using statistics. Her reasons range from economic benefits that immigrants contribute towards the U.S economy to the morality of keeping children together with their families and not separating them.
One of the most notable accomplishments in the immigration reform has been The Dream Act. Maybe this is not what immigrants were expecting, but at least they are a little bit closer to obtaining what they always wanted: a full immigration reform. The Dream Act was enforced in 2012 by the president, Barack Obama, and it’s a kind of immigration reform for people younger than 30 years old and that were students in the U.S. Duhita Mahatmya is an Assistant Professor at in New Century College where she specializes in childhood studies. She states that the referred action is going to help to “Eliminate federal provisions that penalize states for granting undocumented students in-state tuition (as of May 2013, 14 states allow lower tuition for undocumented
Dear Mr. Peabody, I would like to inform you today about some common myths about immigration that just need to be squashed. The first myth that needs to be set straight is the myth that undocumented immigrants don’t pay taxes Undocumented immigrants are already U.S. taxpayers. Collectively undocumented immigrants have paid an estimate of $10.6 billion to state and local taxes as of 2010 according to the Institution on Taxation and Economic Policy. state governments cited IRS figures showing that 50% to 75% of the about 11 million unauthorized U.S. immigrants file and pay income taxes each year. Another myth created in our society is that illegal immigrants drain or abuse the system.
Dear fellow nasty women and bad hombres, America is one the greatest experiments in freedom and liberty history has ever known. We are a nation that was built on the minds and ideals of immigrants. Our Founding Fathers created America so that everyone could have a chance at "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Those are aspects of my country, I would never change because they are what make us unique. The glow of America casts a ripple of hope upon those who struggle.
It is merely a temporary fix for the bigger issue of a broken immigration system. They reason that their claim is true by offering up two personal stories of what people from both sides are saying and thinking. By putting the stories together, the author shows us that the two arguments are not so different after all. The warrant that the article rests on is that the reader has empathy for those coming into the country and that the reader wants immigrants to stay within the country. There is no counter-claim because the article chooses to focus on a middle ground between two arguments.
Despite President Trump’s heartfelt statement, his actions are the oppsite of his words. DACA enables young people to pursue their passions and dreams and to develop their skills and talents without fear of being ripped from all they know. We would want the best for any child, allowing them to become full-fledged contributors to our society. I believe that without DACA, there wouldn’t be any opportunities for the dreamers to continue any further for our right to succeed and what’s best for our future. As we know, immigrants are known as “Dreamers” who come to this country illegally.
How would you feel if you and your family were denied the opportunity to a better life or had to wait years for one? The immigrants goal is to strive for a better future for themselves and their family. Coming here will help them achieve that goal. You may be thinking why cant they have a good future where they live? In some cases, the country they live in could be poor, not have many schools, is not safe, etc.
In some people’s minds, they automatically assume yes, but in reality, it’s a no, immigrants tend to perform labor, and do minimal jobs that Americans don’t, and won't do, so they mistake that as immigrants taking ‘Americans job’, but it’s actually a missed opportunity. One reason for people not taking the jobs is because of the hours, the next reason is the pay might not satisfy a legal immigrant, and people born in America, another reason is it wouldn’t be able to support a regular American family, but they will be able to support an illegal immigrant. The downside is that the policymakers disagreement is the weak labor since the spread immigrants flow has made a dramatic change seeing that the H-B has issued down by twenty- five percent in 2010. The last reasoning is American people want to have a debate on if immigration is stealing American jobs, but according to evidence immigrants actually increases job opportunity and incomes of Americans. This is wise because even George G. Borjas’s long-run estimates suggest that immigrants raise the wages of people with high school diplomas.”-
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2) While some argue that illegal immigrants burden the United States of America and its economy, others believe that they have become essential and are an important part of the US, economy.
Immigration has always been a crucial topic in the United States government. Especially when it comes to giving amnesty and passing an immigration reform to 11 million immigrants, that live in the country. Many citizens believe that immigrants are detrimental to the well-being of the United States and do not agree with the passage of an immigration reform. One reason is that many believe immigrants take away the jobs of American citizens. Other reasons are that immigrants bring crime to the country and affect the economy.
“Illegal immigration continues to be a major problem in the United States. We have people wanting to come here legally and we should not be rewarding people who have come here illegally,” said John Barrasso. The United States Government should not allow immigrants into America because they are having negative effects on our country. Some negative effects are citizens competing with illegals for jobs, immigrants expecting favors, and Americans not getting to work hard for their money.
