Anyone who takes a pro-life position believes that a fetus is a human life and is, thus, entitled to the same legal protections as any other human being. Those who are pro-choice however, strongly believe that women should have the right to choose whether or not she should have an abortion and that the government should have no power over their bodies. Even though I don’t think the government or any human being should be able to use abortion as a channel or means to control the bodies of females, I strongly hold to be true that fetuses deserve the right to live and nobody should be able to deprive them from life. Therefore, I declare myself as leaning pro-life. Those who are Pro-Choice claim that it 's the mother 's choice on what to do, but what about the child 's? I completely agree that women deserve a right to choose what they want to do with their own body, but not at the cost of another living being. Unless a woman is raped, she had a choice. There are so many forms of birth control offered and widely available for anyone in need of them. You choose to have sexual intercourse and you choose whether or not to take proper precautions in order to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Those who are pro-choice argue that a woman should be able to abort if she has been a …show more content…
Abortion is a class issue because poor and working class women may not be able to afford abortions, thus contributing to social inequality. This would mean fewer unwanted babies in middle and upper class families, but a greater economic strain on low-income families. Also, through the Symbolic Interaction perspective, one can understand how abortion can be seen as a life-saver to some, but a crime to others. Social class, religion, or family background can impact whether you view abortion as a symbol of social progress or of social
My opinion about the movement changed when my neighbor’s daughter was raped a few years ago. She had a pregnancy scare and the rapist, although behind bars, threatened to kill her and himself if she kept the child. It was then that I started analyzing the pro-choice rhetoric and the values the supporters hold. Nevertheless, this is not to say that a woman should procure an abortion any time she wants.
People that are pro-choice believe that it is the choice of the women to decide if they are going to get an abortion or not because it is their right. One argument for pro-choice is that abortion allows women to take control of their lives and their bodies. Women can gain control through contraceptives, but they are not a guarantee. Sometimes condoms break or the pill was not one hundred percent effect. Sometimes mistakes happen and the only way women can get full control of their lives is by having the right to abortion.
Pro-life vs. pro-choice. Right to life vs. right to choose. Should abortion be legal? There are several circumstances which influence a woman’s decision to get an abortion. Whether she has the right to is the main problem.
Whose choice is it? Organizations such as “Planned Parenthood” are telling people that abortions are completely fine for pregnant women to get. There are many “Pro-Life” groups opposed to this program. Abortion is not morally correct because it is unfair to children that do not have a choice, a fetus is still human, and killing humans is murder, and couples can prevent pregnancy with birth control or abstinence. Pro abortionists argue that women should have a choice in whether or not they want a child.
A big argument today is should abortion be legal, the two main groups are Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. People who are Pro-Choice believe that women should be able to have the choice to abort their baby or keep it. Whereas people who are Pro-Life believe that abortion should be banned because they think that women should have the baby no matter the situation. I am Pro-Choice, I believe that women should be able to make their own decisions about whether to keep a baby or not. Different people have different circumstances in their life that make them might not want a baby.
I am still a strong believer in pro-choice, and the ability to be allowed to decide what you want to do with your child. Though there is an increased popularity in contraceptives, there are still occurrences where someone might become pregnant without the intention to do so. Sometimes there is a health risk involved, and pregnancy can harm the health of the mother. The more I have researched statistics and various reasons/stories for pro-choice, the more I feel more strengthened in my opinion. A good example of this is when I read about the safety and convenience behind abortion procedures; there is a mortality rate of less than 1 in 100,000, and newer semi-conscious drug allows for the individual to leave the hospital/clinic as soon as an hour after the
According the Merriam Webster dictionary Pro Choice is defined as “believing that pregnant women should have the right to choose to have an abortion”. Nevertheless, individuals who are pro choice have various
Finally, many pro-life viewpoints argue the moral right of abortion because you’re taking a human life. Abortion occurs before birth and at conception. A human’s life begins at birth when the baby comes out the mother’s womb, not at conception. Therefore abortion is not taking a young human’s life away. It is only terminating embryo at conception.
Before choosing sides, one should understand what it means to be pro-choice. Being pro-choice means that you decide what gets to be done with your body. Humans are not perfect creatures and should not be expected to make perfect decisions. Sex is thought to be an exciting, fun and sometimes unexpected act. Sex, is thought by some to be only done when both people are ready to conceive a child, yet sometimes that is not how things happen.
There are two sides to this debate in which individuals identify themselves as either “pro-choice” or “pro-life.” Supporters classify themselves as pro-choice, and argue “that choosing abortion is a right that should not be limited by governmental or
Abortion is a huge controversial issue that we have in the world today. The definition of abortion is to deliberately terminate a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. There are people who are pro-life supporters and feel abortion is an immoral act, and they would even consider it as murder. They believe life begins when the sperm fertilizes the egg during sexual intercourse. Pro-life supporters, believe that abortion should be illegal because it denies the unborn fetus from having any chance at life.
People who are pro-choice are more likely to let women decide whatever they want. When women are allowed to feel free in their own bodies and make their own decisions about what happens to their bodies it makes them feel powerful. They feel like they have unlimited autonomy with their bodies and reproductive systems. The women who feel and think that they have power over themselves feel a sense of security and feel like they have the same rights as men. Women should never have to feel pressure to carry a fetus or to feel less than superior to men.
The terms "pro-life" and "pro-choice" usually boils down to whether an individual believes abortion should be banned or accepted. But there's more to the debate than that. The pro-life movement contends that even a non-viable, undeveloped human life is sacred and should still be protected by the government. Abortion must not be lawful as indicated by this model, nor should it be practiced on an illegal premise. The pro-choice movement argues that in pregnancies prior to the point of viability (a point at which the fetus cannot live outside the womb) the government does not have the right to impede a woman's decision to terminate the pregnancy.
I am a strong pro-choicer. I do not believe that a fetus is a human being nor a person , therefore I do not agree that it can be killed .As for the debate that abortion is depriving a future human life of valuable experiences .I will argue that when a woman decides to abort she always has a reason to do so. Sometimes she does not want to have a child, therefore the future child will feel the resentment of the mother because she was forced to have him/her, and in most cases a woman decides to abort because she is not able to provide a decent future for that child. In both cases, the upbringing of the child will be seriously compromised and , unfortunately in most cases , that will lead to difficult adulthood. On one of the worst a scenario the decision to abort is due to a major trauma like rape.
Guttmacher institute released a study in 2005 with a breakdown on the reasons why women choose abortion as their best option. In the study, 74% of women felt that it would be too much for them to handle, 73% blamed their financial situation, 48% were afraid of being single mothers or were in a troubled relationship (Lowen). One common argument is that abortion should be available for victims of rape, in spite of that, only 1% of women who were getting an abortion were actual victims of rape and incest (Lewin). One set of data that gained my interest was only 12% cited health problems for themselves and 13% cited health concerns for the child. This heavily implies that this topic is far more complicated than the typical black and white imagery painted by politics.
