A Child Should Not Be A Choice Abortion was made legal in January of 1973. Today it is still one of the most controversial arguments in America. Abortion is the intentional termination of a pregnancy after conception. It allows women to put an end to their pregnancy, but involves killing an embryo or fetus. (Nordqvist)There are laws in America that protect the bald and golden eagle and their eggs. So, how and why is it okay to have laws to protect things of this nature but we have no law that protects innocent unborn children? Upon conception an individual is created, this individual has the right to life and should be protected. Dr. Maureen Condic tells us that the most primitive responses to pain in the spinal cord are developed by eight weeks gestation and that it is a universal agreement that pain is detected by the fetus in the first trimester. Dr. Bernard Nathanson stated that when an abortion is performed on a 12 week old fetus, “we see (on an ultrasound machine) the child’s mouth open in a silent scream.” It is immoral to kill a child for convenience. People are having sex and should know that even with using a form of contraceptive there will be a risk of pregnancy. If women are unprepared to care for a child, adoption should be the obvious first choice. Women who are so quick to have an abortion or have multiple abortions send the message that human life has little to no value. Do we cringe when we see a child on the television who was beat to death or murdered? Why is this any different?
