Period 3 Egypt should be considered the best ancient civilization, because of so many things, to start with the geography, their technology, government, beliefs, and art. They were arguably the first civilization on the earth. In my opion Ancient Egypt should be considered the cradle of Civilization. One of the most important reasons that Egypt was a powerful empire is because of where it was, on the Nile River. Egypt emerged next to the Nile because the soil was damp next to the Nile, so it was the best place to farm in Egypt. The pros of the Geography in Egypt is that it is next to the Nile. Some of their gods include Nut these are the godly children she had with Geb, the god of the earth; Orisris, Isis, Seth, and Nephythis. After that they finally started to use coins. The Ancient Egyptians taxed mostly the farmers and lower class more than the upper class. About 10 percent of the crops that the people produced. At this time ancient Egypt was pretty much self-sufficient. Also in document B, the caption shows that the boats on the river use the flow of the Nile to transport goods, like the coffin. Although, sometimes they need to go against the south-to-north flow so they use sails or rowers to transport the goods. Another example of the Ancient Egyptian economy is in document C. This document shows the Ancient Egyptian calendar and how farmers and the government had to work with the Nile. As shown, the calendar is based on the cycles of the Nile, instead of the sun or moon.
The ancient Egyptians believed that people and nature are ruled by powerful gods. Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt were two early human civilizations that lived during the bronze age in harsh desert environments located not far from each other. Both civilizations were built around rivers that they depended on for survival. There is evidence that these rivers had great influence on both the societies politics and culture. Egypt was built around the very strong and reliable Nile River. Ancient Mesopotamia was established in the fertile crescent between the less reliable Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
Death. There were many procedures that the Egyptians performed because they believed in a life after your first, also known as the afterlife. Egyptians believed that to get to the underworld, the dead sailed across the river to get to the Underworld. That’s not the only thing that sailed across the river though. Egyptians used the Nile river as their main source of transportation as well, affecting many things.
The Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations are two of the most well known first civilizations in the study of World History. Though these societies have their fair share of similarities and differences, they are imperative to the progression of modern day society. In both of these civilizations their cultural influence spread throughout early societies and also increased their knowledge about new traditions and technology through neighboring civilizations. However, the Mesopotamians had a pessimistic outlook on life, an unpredictable agriculture system, and a political system of independent city-states.
The leaders of this state controlled his people and they respected him and through this respect for him built him the pyramids, seemingly impossible architectural advances for that time. The ancient Egyptians had strong beliefs that they never once questioned. One of the most important religious beliefs that they had was the preservation of the human body once a person died, a method called mummification. They believed that mummification was the only way to gain immortality. They thought that in order for their Ba, their personality or spirit, to live on after death they needed their physical body preserved. The afterlife for them was just continuing the lives they had on Earth, only better.
Most Egyptians were farmers. Since the Nile flooded for a time from July to November, farmers were drafted for pyramid building since farming was impossible.
