Ray Bradbury is a well-known American mystery author that obtained a creative imagination from his childhood, and chased his dreams to become one of the most famous literary authors that ever lived. He was born on August 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois. He is the son of Leonard Spaulding and Esther (Moberg) Bradbury. His father came from a family of newspaper editors and printers. He married Marguerite Susan McClure on September 27, 1947. He was raised in Los Angeles, California, practicing the religion of Unitarian Universalist. Growing up, his favorite writer was Edgar Allan Poe. In addition, he grew up in a tradition of words and wordsmithing. Due to where he came from, he often viewed plays and circuses, which contributed to his huge imagination. He also loved theater and Hollywood. Aside from that, he became interested in science fiction, specifically space travel, at a young age. He attended schools in Waukegan, Illinois and Los Angeles, California. He entered high school determined to become a writer. As a result, at the age of 15, he took formal training in the short story. There, he founded and edited mimeographed. After graduation, he sold newspapers on the street, and then labored on his stories (17). In Los Angeles, Ray joined a little theater group, sponsored by Laraine Day (108). A few years later, he wanted to finance his writing after being a newsboy, starting with short stories and magazines (29). He wrote screen plays, scripts, and other creative writing pieces. He sold his first story in 1941, titled “Pendulum” to Super Science Stories. At this time, he strived to appear in the Best American Short Stories.
