Ronald Reagan became the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Prior to his presidency, he was a Hollywood actor and a union leader. He also served as the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975. Ronald during his time in the white house as president did three great things to help us and that affects us today. He cut taxes, increased defense spending, negotiated a nuclear arms reduction agreement with the Soviets and is credited with helping to bring a quicker end to the cold war. 1 Ronald Reagan was born on February 6th, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois. After graduated Reagan started working as a sports announcer for a radio station in Davenport, Iowa. His real motive was to launch a acting career and he soon appearing in the movies In January 1940 Ronald Reagan married his first love Jane Wyman who was also an actress. Jane and Ronald had two kids together. They had a daughter and a adopted son. There should have been three but they lost an infant in June of 1948. Jane and Ronald started to have bad problems after the passing of the baby. They ended getting a divorce in June 1948.mean while his own acting career began to drop due to being offered a limited of roles. In March 1952 Reagan remarried to another actress Nancy Davis. Nancy and Reagan also had two children. This made Reagan with four living kids. Reagans actress job was not taking off and he did not have the opportunities. Ronald always had away with words and even better when on tv but his actions were not always as aggressive as his words. He had the military to help keep peace during the cold war but pulled them when we were attacked and killed 240 people. Reagan did not want conflict with anyone in fact he wanted peace. He may have had a big bark but his heart was much bigger. Ronald Reagan was all for the people, God and America. 4 On August 13th 1981, Reagan signed the Economy Recovery Tax Act in to law.1 In my opinion this act has helped the blue collar American as well as small business owners by lowering their percentage of income tax pay in. On the other hand, it hurt big business and created a double recession scenario. The common man was making more money but was forced to spend more money on the on the same products to allow big business to gain profit. Big business did not have as many tax shelters to hide under
