Sea Sponges are animals that live in the ocean floor. They are the simplest animals and can produce asexually and sexually. They are favored over synthetic sponges because of their softness and their ability to stop mold, mildew, and bacteria. Sponges are harvested by divers who cut sponges off of their bases with hooks. AFter the divers cut the animal off of its base the sponge will grow back on the same base in a few years. Once the sponges are brought onto the boat they are pressed to remove anything that is still inside of them. After this they are then covered to prevent damage caused by the sun.
