Homeroom Reflection Junior year I have grown as a student this semester by watching the mala movie. This has helped me grow as a student because it showed me how just one voice can change so much in a community. From this experience I learned how Mala was an ordinary girl but who ones spoke up for what she believed was right for her community and the people all around her. After she started to change her community on a positive way for example, have more schools so students can have an education and making sure girls were able to attend school more often. Therefore, when she spoke up for what she thought was right and changed people 's life there was some who didn 't appreciate what she was doing so decided to shot her and ended up shooting her on her forehead.
Every year it happens, so it 's not surprising that summer turns into fall. It 's inevitable because science says so, but there are some tell-tale sights, smells, sounds, and tastes that signal autumn is approaching. Here are the top 10 signs that fall is coming. Illiana Christian High School has been providing students with a Christ-centered education for a long time. At the same time, Illiana has stayed the same throughout the years. Illiana’s building, classes, and dress code are very different from the early 70’s, but its discipline policies and after school activities are still very similar.
“This we’ll defend”: This is the motto of the United States Army, as well as the 3rd Infantry Regiment, also known as the “Old Guard.” These are the sentinels who guard the tombs of three unknown soldiers: One never identified from the First World War; another that never found his family from World War Two; and another shot down and never recognized in Korea. Laying a wreath on the tomb of these three unknown soldiers is considered synonymous as laying a wreath on every unknown and unidentified soldier and one of the highest honors for a United States citizen.
Discussion 5- Advocacy According to recent data, the baby boom generation will have all retired by 2030, (AARP), which is only 15 years from now. The population in this generation will include 77 million more 65 and older individuals, not including the 54 million already in retirement and receiving Social Security and Medicare benefits. Please note that many seniors also receive some form of federal benefits such as military pensions, survivor’s benefits, annuities, investments income or an awarded settlement (Quad Agno, 14). Unfortunately, in our society driven many times by greed, this has placed our seniors in vulnerable positions, particularly when health and cognitive functions have declined; a slight disadvantage of becoming older (Quadagno,
My favorite season of the year would be fall, as Diane Ackerman mentioned it is her favorite season because the leaves turns colors, how the kids like to play in the leaves and how leaves make the world brighter. In my opinion I would say fall is the most beautiful time of the year because of the climate change, the pretty colors that the leaves make during the fall, and all the memories that are made. The weather is cooler, and the winds blow frequently. I enjoy the cool weather because summer is hot and humid but the fall weather is just right. In “Why Leaves Turn Color in the Fall” it says, “Sunlight rules most living things with its golden edicts.”
The “freshmen fifteen” is a term used for the fifteen pounds students gain on average during their first year of college. As first year students they, tend to get extremely stressed out with work load and exams. The finances of a student are limited as majority of them live off loans and cannot afford groceries. Meanwhile the students that can afford groceries do not know how to cook leaving them to eat out at restaurants or sign up with the college for meal plans. With an excessive work load and little spare time the students schedule become irregular and the most nutritional meals are missed.
It is my Senior year, and I have accomplished a few great things so far. I have been in Honors math courses since Freshman year; I took an AP course and I got a three on the exam, which will be enough to earn college credits at some colleges I am looking at. I also got invited to National Honor Society last year, and I am in it this year as well. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish before the end of my last year at Old Orchard Beach High School and hopefully during this quarter.

Should school be year round with more breaks to improve education? My opinion is no, I think it’s a bad idea to have school year round. Having year round would have a negative impact on the students, they wouldn’t be able to spend as much time with family, and no time for themselves. Having school year round would have a negative impact on the students.
