I am not able to fall asleep since I am afraid that someone will find me and kill me with the dogs.I am sitting in the trap door room I hear footsteps. I have no idea what is going on until I hear the door open, and the woman starts screaming at them and they just tell her to shut her mouth and then they push her out of the way.I have never felt this much terror since back at the farm.Luckily I hid far enough back for them not to see me.The next night I was back on the underground railroad.I have been walking for hours I finally came to the next house.I was sleeping in the crawl space until I heard voices.I didn’t know what was going on.I sat there waiting, doing nothing but sitting in quiet.Until they came they got me, and I didn’t know what to do I couldn’t fight back, or the dogs would have ripped me apart. And I heard they beat or even kill the people they find that used the underground

The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars the United Stated has ever fought. Neighbors, friends, and even brothers were pitted against each other to side with either the Union or the Confederate Army. Although there are personal accounts from the Civil War still circulating around, providing a first-hand look into the war, the cause of the war is still argued upon today. The Civil War of 1861-65 established what kind of nation the United States would be and it is the center of attention when it comes to conversations about Americas many historical events. The four year war was between the North that was free and the South that supported slavery, all the conflict erupted after president Abraham Lincoln was elected into office in the 1860’s. The civil war started because of the conflict that was happening between these states and the different ways the people were going through life. The reason this war started was because there was so many differences between the free and slave states on who should have the power to prohibit slavery in the territories that hadn’t became states yet. Abraham Lincoln wanted to keep the slavery out of these new territories, but the South disagreed, so instead many of the slave states down south got together and formed their own nation.
Last thing I can remember someone kicked me hard in my face and I was unconscious. I woke up tired up to what looked like a barn with smelling animal, waste and half dead bodies. Right away I started vomiting from the smell and the site of the emaciated bodies, Why god did you bring me to this place I asked? Then, out of nowhere I heard voices talking about what happen to lazy no good slaves. We are going to starve you to death or beat you ass straight to obedience.
Lexie Lee Trahan English 8 22 March 2017 From 1861-1865, the American Civil War began. It consisted of two big parts the North and the South. The North and the South had very many strengths and weaknesses during the Civil War. The civil war begun by the disagreements of how one side (The South) wanted to expand slavery.
Jimmy le There have been numerous debates over the cause of the civil war. James Ford Rhodes concluded the American Civil War can be correlated to a “single cause, slavery.” The majority will contend about states’ rights, economic factors, political differences, however, the basic cause in every one of these issues is the question of slavery. The issue was essentially shelved through the balance of political power between the northern and southern states in the post-revolutionary United States. The only cause of the American Civil war was basically slavery.
Additionally, the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 inflamed the South due to the fact that Lincoln was a Republican. The South believed the goal for the Republican party was to over throw slavery (Lecture, “Causes of the Civil War: A House Divided”). Instead, the primary intention was to prevent the expansion of slavery; therefore, slavery needed to transition into “all one thing or all the other” (Lecture, “Causes of the Civil War: A House Divided”). Before Lincoln was inaugurated, the South seceded, and the development of the Confederate States of America emerged with the intention to self govern and protect slavery. South Carolina was the first to secede followed by Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas.
The Civil War was actually the War of Southern Succession. The Southerners were concerned that their political and economic situation was seriously threatened by Northern bankers and industrialists. The Southerners paid the larger portion of tariffs which benefited the Northerners. The Southerners were also concerned that their land and property would be dominated by banks owned by the Northerners. Theses concerns led to what is known as the Civil War.

The Civil War was an immense part of American history from 1861 to 1865. This war was longer than predicted and took more deaths and resources than estimated. It was by far the bloodiest war America has experienced with at least 720,000 deaths. Comparatively, the Revolutionary War had only 25,000 deaths. The militaries from either side were very strong and they would hold each other off on winning different battles.
Echoing the arguments made in the book, Why the South Lost the Civil War, the same historians in the book, The Elements of Confederate Defeat: Nationalism, War Aims, and Religion, aim to fully explore the reason why the Conference eventually lost the greatest and most vicious conflict on United States soil. Exploring three key themes of nationalism, the war aims of the south, and the religion of the southern states, the authors in the book ultimately claim as their thesis that the Confederacy lost the Civil War for the sole reason that the southern states lacked the morale and the will to successfully win the war. Furthermore, the nationalism of the Confederacy was underscored by the religious consequences and guilt felt by southerners over
The Civil War, which took place from 1861 to 1865, was a important time in American history. It had a impact on the nation, paving a new way the political, social, and economic ways of the country after the war. One of the most interesting aspects (I think so) of the Civil War is the different viewpoints held by Northerners and Southerners about the causes and outcomes of the war and battles. Northerners thought that the Civil War was fought to preserve the Union, to prevent the secession of the Southern states from the United States. But Southerners believed that the Civil War was fought for states' rights and the preservation of a unique Southern way of life.
Abraham Lincoln and Civil War America is a biography that tells the life and success of Abraham Lincoln. At the beginning it talks about his life and how rough he grew up. As Lincoln grew up he wanted to learn to read and write because he was ashamed that his father couldn 't. Lincoln learning to read and write was a key factor to help him win the election and become as successful as he was. Even as a young child Lincoln claims to naturally be anti-salvory ( page 281). This is important to his stand point during the war.
