Music affects the brain in different ways because everyone’s brain operates differently. There are four major parts of the brain that turn on when music enters the brain. These parts are the auditory cortex, the cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the limbic system. Each major part has smaller parts that also have a role in processing music.
The auditory cortex is part of the temporal lobe at each side of the brain. It analyzes information from music such as volume, pitch, and speed.
The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and is located at the front and top of the head. There are four parts of the cerebrum; the inferior frontal gyrus, the dorsolateral frontal cortex, the frontal gyrus, and the motor cortex. Each of the four parts, in their own way, help recall the memory of the song and it’s lyrics.

However, listening to music does not always help. If you listen to a preferred genre, you are most likely to get distracted because your attention is drawn to the lyrics of the song and not to what you are doing. If you listen to a genre that you don’t like you may become stressed out and irritated.
Studies show that listening to heavy metal, even if you like this type of music, is not beneficial as it is loud and aggressive. It is proven that classical

music is the most beneficial because it is known as the best type of music for your health. Classical music also causes the heart beat and pulse to relax, which makes your mind able to concentrate. Pop music makes you less calm and gets your blood pumping. Therefore, when you listen to pop, most people get distracted, as it is repetitive and catchy.
Finally, a few studies prove that it does not matter what type of genre you listen to as long as you listen to the same music as you do when study and take the test. These studies found out that music does in fact help your
