In the world, there are one billion people undernourished and one and a half billion more people overweight. In this day and age, where food has become a means of profit rather than a means of keeping people thriving and healthy, Raj Patel took it upon himself to explore why our world has become the home of these two opposite extremes: the stuffed and the starved. He does so by travelling the world and investigating the mess that was created by the big men (corporate food companies) when they took power away from the little men (farmers and farm workers) in order to provide for everyone else (the consumers) as conveniently and profitably as possible. In his book Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System, Patel reveals his findings and tries to reach out to people not just as readers, but also as consumers, in hopes of regaining control over the one thing that has brought us all down: the world food system.

First F.M.S.C. has given food to the poor. “[in 2002] kids against hunger fed 7 million people in 32 countries. In 6 months it shipped 40 tons of food each to Afghanistan, Uganda, and Liberia” (Tan 1). 7 million people were able to eat because F.M.S.C. gave them the food. Then Shipped another 40 tons of food in just 6 months.
Food sufficiency is a moral right, and it is astonishing that in a developed country like Canada, there are millions of people living with food insufficiency and have heavy reliance on Food Banks among other assistance programs. Since the first food bank opened it’s doors in Canada during the 1980s, this organization has changed dramatically. It is continuously faced with new challenges. Food banks are constantly adapting to the changing times and increasing the variety of food, increasing volumes and providing services beyond the simple provision of food (Pegg & Stapleton, 2015). Changes within the food bank are happening in response to the national economic position, and changing needs of users.

Every year “children” in America suffer hunger. To help out kids in America, Ikea has started donating. like Ikea many other companies with different programs have been set up to help kids. Many studies have shown that kids are often without food. So in order to help these kids have a better life, people could to volunteer by donating food to different programs.

Feeding America is an organization that specializes in fighting hunger and helping people that don’t have food. 42 million people face hunger in the U.S. today including nearly 13 million children and more than five million seniors. The thing that those problems have in common is causing the pain and misery of food not being on the table. Many people and organizations are fundraising and collecting donations to help those in need. Programs educate and teach people to create self-sustaining food sources. However there is one very powerful and reputable group that has the most power to help the cause of hungry children in the United States and that group is the federal government.

Moreover, Riddle (2005) stresses that nutrition education is a key for developing the skills and motivation needed to eat well, and is especially important in situations where families have limited resources. The benefits of nutrition education and counselling can directly influence nutritional status, consequently, helping in attaining the millennium development goal (MDG) to reduce the prevalence of hunger and malnutrition (Garcia, 2008). In a recent preliminary study conducted by ENDESA in 2007, the way in which the mother’s educational level influenced malnutrition was observed. Statistics reveal that 15.4 percent of children of mothers with no education suffered from chronic malnutrition, while 9.4 percent and 4.7 percent in children of mothers with secondary or higher education levels respectively (Acevedo & Menendez, 2006).
Increased malnutrition is caused by poor diversification of diets such as relying too much on starchy staples. Thus, the consumption of a variety of foods is important for positive health. Malnutrition can be reduced by the consumption of diets having animal sources, vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables as well as nutrient-rich legumes (Arimond and Ruel, 2004; Thompson and Amoroso, 2011). According to the FAO, IFAD and WFP, (2015) about 800 million people do not have sufficient access to calories. A low intake of vitamins and minerals causes about 2 billion people all over the world to suffer from micronutrient malnutrition (IFPRI, 2014).
