Undisclosed and Serial, two podcasts, have made Adnan Syed’s case a public phenomenon. This case originated on January 13th, 1999. Hae Min Lee, a senior at Woodlawn High School, was found murdered and buried in Leakin Park about a month later. Adnan and Hae dated and had broken up shortly before the incident took place. This makes Adnan a main suspect in the investigation of her disappearance and murder. Adnan’s first trial was declared a mistrial. He then began his second trial where he was found guilty and placed in the Maryland Correctional Institution. He is serving a life sentence plus 30 years for the murder of Hae Min Lee. Rabia Chaudry is one of the authors of the Undisclosed podcast. Chaudry and Adnan knew each other prior to this
On January 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee was reported missing and later found dead in Leakin park in Baltimore . Adnan Syed, Hae Min Lee’s ex boyfriend was convicted of the murder then sentenced to life on the charge of 1st degree murder. Jay Wilds was the witness for the trial that stated that Adnan had killed Hae, and both Adnan and himself had buried the body. Adnan’s lawyer for this trial was Christina Gutierrez who failed to use the only alibi for Adnan, Asia McClain, and go through DNA evidence on Hae. I believe Adnan Syed should be granted a second trial, because of the competence of his attorney.
A DNA match to Ronald Lee Moore, a rapist/murderer found the suspect in three 1999 cases and one of them was a woman’s death by strangulation. Ronald was released 10 days prior to the disappearance of Hae. Ronald then killed himself in 2012 after being caught by police officers again for more crimes. I do believe that testing should be provided in the reopening of the case, this evidence could lead to the innocence of Adnan and could raise more questions on why Jay lied to the police about the disappearance and murder of
Adnan Syed who is now 35, was sentenced to life in 1999 for the murder of his girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Was he innocent or guilty? Syed was blamed guilty but in the podcast Serial, the host Sarah Koenig discovers many things about the day of the murder and different sides of the story. Adnan Syed is innocent. As Sarah Koenig interviews the friends and family of Adnan Syed she learns lots of information the judges and detectives decided to disregard.
On February 9, 1999 Hae Min Lee was found in Leakin Park, Baltimore, Maryland with signs of manual strangulation. The state claimed that Adnan Syed, Hae’s former boyfriend at the time was responsible because they believed he was enraged of their relationship ending. My claim is Adnan Syed is likely not responsible for the death of Hae Min Lee, because there was insufficient evidence to prove he was guilty and the trial was unfair, it was based more on his racial background than the actual case itself. Adnan can be proved innocent with Don’s odd alibi and suspicions.
Adnan was convicted and is now in prison to this day. But Adnan did not have a fair trial. There are too many details that aren’t filled in Jay’s story, as well as, Jay shouldn’t have been considered a reliable witness in the first
On January 13th, 1999, a popular senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore, Maryland, disappears. The girl, Hae Min Lee, was later found in Leakin Park with marks proving she was strangled to death. Six weeks later, Adnan Syed, Lee’s classmate and ex-boyfriend, was arrested and sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years. A friend of Adnan, Jay, who graduated the spring prior from Woodlawn, is the only person with a timeline for the 13th of January and, unfortunately, it makes Adnan look guilty. But, with multiple inconsistencies and stories that do not match the other gathered evidence, Jay’s story is not perfect.
Serial is a podcast hosted by Sarah Koenig about the mysterious murder of Hae Min Lee and the convinction of Adnan Syed in the year 1999. When Koenig looked over the case in 2014 she decided to investigate into the case on her own. Despite everything that happened to Syed pertaining his arrest many people including his family think he is innocent. I think an expert should have gone over all the details when it came to this case getting down to the bottom of who her killer is. On Januray 13, 1999 eighteen year-old Hae Min Lee disappeared after school in Baltimore, Maryland.
If you were charged for a murder you did not commit, what would you do? Adnan Syed was sentenced to prison after he was found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. But there are a few small details that make significant complications within the case. Though many of these details cannot be fully proved nor entirely refuted, they could have been the reason for Adnan's rightful freedom. Today, he is incarcerated in a Baltimore prison awaiting appeal.
Although a Baltimore, Maryland jury accused Adnan Syed guilty of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee; The question is did Maryland’s justice system accuse the wrong person of the crime. Adnan Syed was a student at Woodlawn High School. He was a much liked teenager by his peers. He made good grades, played school sports, and was an EMT. Adnan was a typical teenager who drank, smoked pot and kept secrets from his Muslim family heritage.
Is the murderer truly guilty or was he at the wrong place at the wrong time? In the podcast Serial by Sarah Koenig has an impact on Adnan being guilty of murdering Hae Min Lee. The explanation of the lasting impact of guilt for murder underlines the difficult question that surrounds Adnan regarding whether he is guilty of murdering Hae min lee. There are many debates on how Adnan is guilty but there are two that stick out. Adnan Syed is guilty of killing Hae min lee because of the cell phone records pinpointed near the burial site where Hae’s body was discovered.
One of these friends was Adnan Syed, her ex-boyfriend and another popular kid. He was arrested and charged for her murder based on witness testimony from a distant friend, Jay Wilds. 15 years later, Sarah Koenig revisited the case to present in her podcast, Serial uncovering lots of evidence along the way. The evidence she finds both supports and opposes his guilty sentence but ultimately, the strongest evidence points to Syed being guilty, due to his weak alibi and the strength of the evidence opposing him.
Serial, a weekly podcast, revisits the 1999 murder case of Hae Min Lee, a senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore, and her former boyfriend convicted of the crime, Adnan Syed. In the United States, the law says that someone is innocent until proven guilty and with certain evidence presented in the podcast, Adnan is far from guilty. Serial brings to light new evidence that could answer the question of Adnan Syed’s wrongful imprisonment. With the inconsistency of Jay Wilds incriminating testimony, the irrational judgments by the police based on behavior and the possibility of the involvement of corrupt detectives, newly gathered evidence could prove that Adnan Syed is innocent.
Relationships, lies, murder, conviction. These are all aspects that come into play when talking about the January 13th, 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed, Hae’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder in 2000. The problem with this is that the only evidence the state had to convict Adnan was the stories told by others, specifically someone named Jay who was with Adnan for some of the day Hae went missing and had possession of Adnan’s car and cell phone. He claims Adnan made him come pick him up after the murder was committed and assist him in burying Hae’s body.
Pride and Jealousy are very powerful things! Some people will go to the farthest limits to preserve their own ego and selfish desires. The Serial Podcast by Sarah Koenig is about the very complex murder of Hae Min Lee on January 13th, 1999. Many different people are brought into the Hae Lee case but the one that sticks out the most is Adnan Syed. On the day of January 13th, 1999 Hae Min Lee was strangled to death by Adnan Syed with the assistance of Jay Wilds.
On January 13, 1999, 18 year old Hae Min Lee, disappeared. About a month later, February 9, Hae was found dead by means of strangulation. Hae’s ex boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was put in prison for her murder. I believe Adnan was wrongly prosecuted, and that the real murderer is Jay Wilds. When interrogated, Jay’s story was not consistent and a lot of evidence he claimed as true was just flat out wrong.
