Imperialism may look different to different people throughout the world, but to me imperialism is a policy extending a country’s power and influence through a diplomacy or military force. An emperor rules an imperialism type of country/state. Although people have different opinions on imperialism, it has driven European countries to establish colonies, lead humanity away from the focus on human/individual to power loves or land grabs, and imperialism has affected and helped shape what our world is today.
First, a major factor that has drove Europe to establish countries all over the world is the wanting of power. Establishing more land meant more power and that is what an emperor wanted. Europe wanted to take over Africa because of all the
Europeans wanted African land so much that they were willing to do anything to get the natural resources that Africa held. The Europeans went out of their way to get these resources. Africa was rich and the most needed resources at this time to update and advance new Technology and for economic purposes. Firstly, Europeans had more Technology advancements.
Imperialism is the control over younger/weaker countries in which one can use them to acquire essential resources. During this time, England was sucking all of the smaller, developing countries under its control(Document E). This was a great tactic used by the British, for then they had obscured more resources than any other rivaling countries. Yet sadly, later on, it was misinterpreted as a sign of war and stirred great tension throughout Europe. With all of their small colonies Britain became the leading motherland of resources with 456 million people working beneath them(Document F).

The term, in the nineteenth century, included various actions, such as economic exploitation and cultural imperialism. This could include anything involving two groups with one having some degree of control over the other for their own gain. The cause of this change in world relations in the nineteenth century cannot be traced back to one reason. Possible contributing factors comprise of nationalism, social darwinism, and the hope for economic power.

In addition, it was completely different than other imperialistic takeovers as now you had several powerful countries all looking to colonize an entire continent. Europe takes advantage of Africa. The main driving forces behind European Imperialism consisted of three fundamental factors which included Political, Technological, and Economic. The way these three components are involved in the driving force because they all helped shape and push everything together to make more efficient. The first component that helped take over land or “European Imperialism” was Technological power.

These region were wanted by the imperialist powers of this time, which were: Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
