Some evidence of this includes the legend of Alexander’s fight against Porus. Alexander and his troops were cornered and needed to find a way around Porus’s army without them noticing. Alexander’s master plan was to trick Porus into thinking they were making a move but in reality Alexander was confusing him on purpose. Once Porus stop reacting Alexander made his way across the stream during a thunderstorm. This confusion causes the elephants to frantically stomp around crushing Porus’s soldiers (Doc B). This story truly shows how technical Alexanders strategies were. He found the perfect time and place to go through with his plans making sure he would succeed and he always did. A remarkable leader should be able to get his army out of sticky situation as Alexander did here. Another example of Alexander using his brainpower to succeed is this map that shows the routs he and his army took. The evidence that shows this is a map of the land that Alexander took control over in his peak, 323 BCE. The map reveals that he conquered most of the middle east and the entire Persia empire. Alexander founded over 13 cities throughout this territory naming most Alexandria after himself to spread his legacy (Doc A). This map shows the vast amount of territory Alexander took control of in a very short period of time. He and his army have little troubles while gaining this much power and only fought around five fights. Alexander was practically unbeatable shown that every war fought resulted in him succeeding and winning over the land. Another piece of evidence is the statistics of his legacy, Alexander’s territory grew to a massive 2,000,000 sq miles. As well as this he was able to take control of this much land in only 11 years (Doc E). He was only around 30 years old when he met his fathers goal of conquering the Persia Empire. Alexander made this achievement look easy when it only took a few conflicts and through this he still care for his soldiers and never put himself first unless he was leading his army into
Alexander the Great, son of Phillip the second, was a mighty Macedonia king who came close to conquering the entire civilized world of his day. Shortly after succeeding the throne, Alexander began the dynastic purging of his enemies. Alexander was extremely ambitious and aspiring. Alexander died in 323 BC and his empire stretched from the western edge of modern-day India to Egypt! Alexander not only created a vast empire, but he also helped begin the flow of cultural diffusion throughout his conquered lands.
Alexander’s military brilliance was unquestionable. He was a leader invincible in both, siege warfare and set battles. In addition to that, his intelligence and communications skills were immaculate. The Roman historian Arrian, in his account Alexander Puts Down a Mutiny, explains Alexander’s ability of communication and leadership skills, “[M]arching out from a country too poor to maintain you decently, [I] laid open for you at a blow, and in spite of Persia’s naval supremacy, the gates of the Hellespont. My cavalry crushed the satraps of Darius, and I added all Ionia and Aeolia, the two Phrygias and Lydia to your empire….
This is why Thebes first revolted but through the rebellion, he was able to prove his point, show his military brilliance, and rule with a gentle but strong hold. During the time of his death, Alexander the Great had a large influence and a massive number of cities. His empire was two million square miles and he had founded seventy cities. He accomplished this over eleven years (Doc. X). His army marched, marched, and marched on and year after year, day after day, they conquered.
As a boy, Alexander was tortured by the famous philosopher Aristotle. Alexander the Great was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon, he lived from 356 BC to 323 BC and was born in the capital of Macedonia, Pella. In 336 BC Philip II of Macedonia, Alexander's father was assassinated, and Alexander inherited the throne. In what ways did Alexander the Great leave his mark on history and how did his accomplishments contribute to his legacy? One reason that Alexander was great was his military strategies.
He spread Greek culture around the world and united the great Persian empire. Alexander created many cities, including Alexandria. These were bustling cities during his rule. Alexander was very effective because he was able to blend two cultures, had a great military, and gained the trust of the people.
Alexander was arguably one of the greatest military leaders of all time. One example of his great leadership skills is when he defeated Darius III while he was outnumbered five to one. “As it became clear Alexander would win the battle, Darius fled with what remained of his troops, leaving his wife and family behind”(“Alexander the Great”). He also created the largest empire the world at that time. Only the best of
(Doc. B). This empire had not messed with him or affected him conquering land, but Alexander saw an opportunity and jumped at it first chance he saw. Alexander did not think about the negative affect that was created by him conquering all this land, he just saw the opportunity to become more powerful, and make his empire one of the biggest. He wanted to set a legacy for himself, and did not care about how everyone else was
He also respected his empire. Alexander would honor his empire even if he was outnumbered. He still wanted to fight because be believed that they
Alexander pouring the water explains why he was great because even though his men had given him water, he refused to drink it, for his men were just as thirsty as he was. Allowing the cities to surrender explains why he was great because it shows that he wasn’t a harsh leader that just seizes control, he lets the city decide to surrender in return for kindness. In conclusion, Alexander the Great was a strong, skilled leader. Alexander the Great did show some qualities of a bad leader.
Long ago, back into the time of ancient Greek, was a young 20 year old British Macedonian king called Alexander. He was a very brave, dauntless, and generous man to his followers. He had conquered a vast of land and made it his empire. He had found 70 cities and named most of them Alexandria. He spread Greek ideas and culture to the world.
Alexander the Great was a successful leader and tactician. Even though he was successful in these departments, we don’t see much of his politician skills being used. Alexander the Great, born in the northern kingdom of Greece, Macedonia, is easily one of the most famous people in history. Known for conquering most of what they knew as the world, Alexander accomplished a lot. From leadership, to tactics he used in battle, Alexander the Great was a successful man.
His parents hired the philosopher Aristotle to educate Alexander in subjects such as politics, sports, and warfare. He grew a strong opinion of himself as the outcome of his education. He then concluded to the belief that he was a god. When Alexander’s father died, he inherited his army and his quest to conquer Persia. He successfully lead the army through the Persian Empire and conquered thousands of square miles
Alexander became the best ruler in history using his strategy of seizing the leader first. This attack worked extremely well for this time period because no one had ever heard of such a thing. When Alexander first started using this tactic everyone told him it was gonna fail but he proved them wrong. Alexander was the best at warfare and it did not matter who he faced, they would lose in the end. Alexander learned that letting empires retain their religion and culture would prevent them from retaliating against him.
He conquered much of Asia as well as Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Persia. In addition, Alexander the Great made all of the country
Glorious men have graced the earth and have left significant impressions on the following generations. Alexander the Great suits that profile like none other. As arguably one of the most influential military leaders in history, Alexander conquered the majority of the known world, including large-scale empires such as the Persian. Succeeding his father, Philip II, to the throne at the age of 20, Alexander commanded an already skilled military, which he schooled further in the beginning of his reign. Even militarily significant empires had no chance against Alexander 's military brilliance and so he constructed one of the largest empires in history.
