At what cost did we win World War Two? The answer changes depending on who you talk to.
Some say the Japanese got what they deserved. Others say that the cost was too great and there another way. Maybe that’s true, but that doesn’t mean we forget those who lost their lives on that tragic day. In 1946 a man named John Hershey published a book, a book that would go on to be one of the most controversial books of its time. This books name is Hiroshima. The main purpose of this book was to humanize the Japanese people again. The American propaganda made the the all Japanese out to be evil. Just like any war there is collateral damage. This book really tells the story of only a few people who had their lives destroyed. When it was published it was not received warmly. He was criticized and called Un-American, but he didn’t care. He cared more about these people and getting their stories out there. Stories such as miss Sasakis, She is one of the first we hear about in this book. …show more content…
