Aerospace engineering is the primary field of engineering to design aircraft, spacecraft, satellites, and missiles. They primarily create and test prototypes to make sure they function according to design. The Manhattan project was a huge research conducted by scientists and physicists alike to create what would soon be the world’s first atomic bomb. Shuttles: The Need for More Shuttles Proposal The last thing that college students wants to happen to them is arriving to class late and knowing that the reason why they were late is not their fault. Students at Kennesaw State University (KSU), who travel to and from the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses, have experienced the "last thing I want to happen to me" situation and are not pleased with long unexpected wait time for the Big Owl Bus, more commonly known as the B.O.B. shuttle, to arrive. These issues are the results of limited amount of shuttles traveling between both campuses.
State-of-the-art vehicles and systems were being developed that could transport people and cargo in more efficient manners, and new manufacturing systems were able to create these vehicles at a much higher rate. One of these systems was the variable pitch propeller, invented by Wallace Turnbull in 1922. Unlike conventional fixed pitch propellers, this propeller utilized a motor to alter the pitch of the blade and cut through varying amounts of air. This helped the airplane obtain maximum power and thrust on takeoff, and then transition to an economical cruise setting, which, “…Made the air-transport industry possible” (Freeman-Shaw et al. 43). With this invention, aircraft were able to transport considerably greater volumes of people or cargo, which provided significant economic benefits.
