In the end Romeo and Juliet did they actually have to kill themselves, their answer is yes they did. Romeo and Juliet caused their own death based on their actions. Because Romeo and Juliet did not communicate their love they had for eachother, they had to lie and keep secrets when confronted, thus leading to their demise. Romeo is too quick too think, Juliet got scared easily when she was confronted, and they both did not want to tell anyone they loved each other. In the moment Romeo was too quick to think with many things, but one being the greatest. When Romeo say juliet 's dead body he went right away to kill himself without thinking first. “Here 's to my love, (Drinks Poison) I will die quickly, but i will kiss you once more”(Shakespeare 5.3.119-120). When Juliet was confronted by her father and told she would marry paris she freaked out, and got really scared. After Juliet heard she would marry paris she went to Friar and asked for a sleeping potion. Once getting home she took it. “Should I kill myself?, no i should not. Nurse bring me the bottle, I need to drink it, I don 't want to marry Paris. Is this the way to do it though, it is isn 't it? You know what I will take this for my Romeo. I hope this works if it does don 't worry Nurse I will wake soon”(Shakespeare 4.3.14-50). During this moment Juliet is debating if she should or should not take the potion, if she did he family would believe her dead. She did decided to take it in the end so she could be with romeo. She chose Romeo over her own family, because she loved him so great and she knew should would not marry paris so this was the only thing she thought she could do. It wasn 't, she could 've told her father everything that had happened in the past with Romeo. But she did not she kept it a secret and had to lie to her father by faking her death. This all could 've been avoided if juliet did not get scared when she was confronted and decided to tell her father everything, and not
When Juliet comes desperately to the Friar for help in her current situation. He gives Juliet a potion that once drank, would make her seem dead. He gives her this because he knows that “rather than to marry county Paris” she would kill herself.(4.1.73) The Friar eve said himself that he knew she would be willing to do anything to avoid marrying Paris, no matter the risk. However, instead of taking time to create a smart safe plan, he hastily gives Juliet a potion that would make her seem dead.
There are many reasons why Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, Two factors caused Romeo Juliet’s death were Friar Lawrence and the family feud that was going on between the Capulets and the Montagues. Both had impacted Juliet and Romeo into thinking that killing themselves was the only way to get out of their problems and the secrets that had been made. Friar Lawrence made many mistakes in trying to keep Romeo and Juliet's marriage a secret and by getting Juliet out of her soon to be marriage to Paris. He created a chain of secrets starting with him agreeing to marry Romeo and Juliet.
That lead to a big misunderstanding. First, Friar Laurence gives Juliet a potion which will make her look dead, but it actually makes people sleep for 48 hours. Juliet drank it the night before the wedding with Paris so
/ If, in thy wisdom thou canst give no help, / Do but call my resolution wise, / And with this knife I 'll help it presently" (4.1.51-54). To appease Juliet, Friar Laurence gave her a potion to consume that would enable her to feign death, thereby averting marriage to Paris.
(2.4.168-173) The Nurse actually gave thought to Juliet’s well-being unlike the Friar, who remained ignorant to the dangers of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. Following Romeo’s exile, the Nurse promised Juliet that she would seek him out to “... comfort [Juliet]. I wot well where he is. Hark ye, your Romeo will be here at night.
Friar Lawrence has the idea to give Juliet a sleeping potion that would make her look dead. This would result in her arranged marriage with County Paris called off, and she would be able to run away with her true love Romeo. Friar tells Juliet that a message would be sent to Romeo informing him about this plan, but unfortunately Romeo never gets the message. Friar tells Juliet, “Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift; and hither shall he come; and he and I will watch thy waking…” (IV.i.114-116).
Now that Juliet is (unwillingly) being wed to Paris, the Friar sees a solution in a vial of poison that will make Juliet seem as though she’s dead. His warning speech goes: “Take thou this vial, being then in bed / And this distilled liquor drink thou off / When presently through all thy veins shall run / A cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse / Shall keep his native progress, but surcease” (Act 4, Scene 1). Essentially, the Friar is warning Juliet of what how the poison will affect her. He instructs her to lay in bed as if asleep, and drink the liquid.
Without his imprudent deed, Juliet wouldn’t have to create an outlandish plan
Even the Nurse who previously encouraged the romance between Juliet and Romeo, changes her mind and says she should marry Paris. Juliet's rebellion has serious repercussions which leads her to commit suicde over her
Give consent/To marry Paris. Wednesday is tomorrow./Tomorrow night look that thou lie alone./ Let not the Nurse lie with thee in thy chamber./Take thou this vial, being then in bed,/And this distillèd liquor drink thou off,/” (4.1.92-97). Friar Lawrence convinces the naive Juliet to take the potion and pose as if she was dead. He wants her to go through with it because it means that no one will find out that he secretly married the two young lovers.
Even though Romeo and Juliet committed suicide, fate and the long-standing family feuding ultimately cause their untimely deaths. So now we know what the cause the death of Romeo and
Romeo and Juliet died at the end of Act 5 of the play. The death of the two lovers had several reasons and people that lead up to this moment. The people that were the most responsible for the the deaths are three members of Capulet family. With the father, mother, and nurse to Juliet all having an influence by being unsupportive, uncaring, and uptight, they are to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths.
Question 6: Of all the minor characters in the play, who was the most responsible for contributing to the death of romeo and juliet? was it the nurse? friar laurence, capulet, tybalt, mercutio or the apothecary? In the play Romeo and Juliet the two main character ended up killing themselves, the reason why they both killed themself was because a series of unfortunate events, The problems started when was when Romeo was banished for killing Tybalt but the reason why he killed him was because Mercutio and Tybalt got into a fight but Romeo tried to break it up but then Tybalt killed Mercutio and Romeo got enraged and killed Tybalt for revenge.
After trying to deny being married off she finally agreed to marry Paris, but she will have to take the potion sooner, but she has no way to communicate this to Romeo. Romeo, unknowing of the circumstances, decided that before he left he needed a backup plan. He decided to get a vile of poison to kill himself if he is unable to get Juliet back. Since the sale of poison is illegal and punishable by death, he finds a poor apothecary that will do anything for money and has him make a batch of his strongest poison for Romeo. The apothecary tells Romeo that he is only doing this because he is poor, not because it is the right thing to do in “My poverty but not my will consents” (5.1. 75).
The nurse pushes Juliet to marry Count Paris which makes her drink the potion. “Beshrew my heart in this second match, For it excels you first”(Romeo and Juliet 3.5.223-224). This is her telling Juliet to marry count Paris because Romeo is never coming back. In addition to her telling Juliet to marry Count Paris she let her marry Romeo. The nurse takes Juliet to the Friar and gets her married to Romeo.
