Everyone experiences times when they feel hopeless, and there is no way to feel better. It is true that nowadays most people are affected by depression, and most people do not think that depression is an illness. However, depression is a serious medical illness that has a significant impact on the lives of people. Also, depression does not only affect people physically but also emotionally, and depression is not just feeling sad. it is a disorder defined by thoughts, behavior, and feelings. For instance, smoking, using alcohol or stress can cause depression; however, people also tend to have a higher risk of depression when the brain does not produce neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters which are the chemical that play a role in the functioning of the brain have a major effect on depression; therefore, many medications used in the treatment of depression work by increasing the levels of these neurotransmitters. As a result, there are a lot of things that causes depression, and there are many ways that this disorder can be started in many different causes. In addition to that, depression is a genetic disorder. People who have a family history of depression are more likely to be depressed as well. Moreover, the symptoms of depression verify depending on people. Depression has symptoms related to how someone feels. These symptoms include constant feelings of anger, sadness, guilt or hopeless. Also, there are symptoms related to behavior. They include social withdrawal, a lack of energy, low motivation, or sleep problems.
