The reconstruction to the constitution created a new way of things. A big thing was equality to everybody no matter what you were or supported. Reconstruction was in a way to some people was the golden opportunity to purge the nation of slavery and create “ perfect republic”. People like Thaddeus Stevens thought citizens should enjoy equal and political rights. Creating the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments empowered a new different state. It gave people the freedom to choose what they do with their life and their possessions without discrimination or unfair treatment toward them and their families. Thus giving people the choice of government, groups, and leaders to follow towards and believe. Either Anarchist, or following people like Malcolm X, The weather underground, or joining Sons of Liberty. …show more content…
They are a self-governed association that have been around forever and are around everywhere. They hold the state they’re in as undesirable, unnecessary, or harmful. It aims more toward opposing authority. Anarchism isn’t a special group it’s all types of people everywhere separate people. There philosophy mainly reflects against anti-authoritarian, interpretations, of communism, collectivism, syndicalism, mutualism, or participatory. An example of something an anarchist would be or do is “Timothy Mcveigh”. He set off a truck bomb that killed 186 people and injured 600. Because he sought revenge against the federal government for the way they handled the waco
They were in existence from 1865 through 1872. 10. The significant three amendments during the Reconstruction were the 13th Amendment abolished slavery, 14th Amendment granting citizenship to people born in the US regardless of race, and the 15th Amendment voting rights to all regardless of color or if you were a slave.
The 13th amendment made it illegal to have slaves which meant that the slaves were free and wouldn’t have to be abused or work for free. The 14th amendment made all slaves U.S citizens as long as they were born in the U.S. having the slaves be citizens would bring the United States closer together as a whole country. The 15th amendment was that all male U.S citizens could vote no matter your race. This made the U.S come together by voting for people for political roles and not letting only whites vote. Lastly I will talk about the Civil Rights Act of
For one, Abraham Lincoln was killed, second, the Klu Klux Klan made lots of conflict during this time, and third all of the trouble brought about by the South. First of all, reconstruction was a time right after the Civil War, beginning in 1877. Essentially, the purpose of reconstruction was to rebuild the North and the South’s peace after the Civil War created conflict. On the bright side, slavery died with the war.
After the Union won the Civil War, the United States went into seven year period, known as Reconstruction. The goal of Reconstruction was to rejoin all the states into the Union and to help rebuild the South. While the goal of Reconstruction was rightful, the final result of the period didn’t do much to put America into a better place than where it was before the Civil War. During Reconstruction, the radical northern abolitionists was pushing to make America a country where everyone was equal, and granting every citizen, regardless of their ancestry. The Northerns tried to make everyone equal members of society and give each and every one of them a voice in their own government.
From 1865 to 1877 the country was under said reconstruction. During the reconstruction many voices felt the need to contribute to the improvement in any way that they could. For starters probably the biggest part of the reconstruction was the implementing of the Fourteenth Amendment. This Amendment prevented states from denying rights and privileges to any U.S. citizen. Maceo Cardinale Kwik Reconstruction Reconstruction was the twelve years after the civil war. Those twelve years were full of readjustment fixing the ruin the United States had fallen into. The problems that had the United states in disarray were how to, rebuild the South, reunite the states, and ensure the rights and protection of the newly freed African Americans. The civil war left the South in shambles, and newly freed slaves struggled to adjust to their new freedom. Most Southerners hated reconstruction and everything else about the North.
The Reconstruction Era of American history was plagued by many problems. One of the most important problems being the recently released from slavery Freedmen. Freedmen were in a tricky situation in which they had just been released from their owner and had nowhere to go, but the Federal Government made many successful attempts to help them out. The Government helped alleviate all the problems Freedmen had from their finances to basic needs and rights, and in doing so, made the period of reconstruction more helpful than harmful for Freedmen. The events of reconstruction were helpful to freedmen as they were not only freed from slavery, they were given rights directly from the federal government.
The Reconstruction was important to American history because it gave all different types of people their rights. The fourteenth amendment, The Dawes act and The Homestead Act all have things in common. All of these acts involve something to do with race and or forcing people out of their homes or land. The fourteenth Amendment gave men of color “equal” rights to white men.
The American Civil War that was started due to the controversy over slavery in 1861, was won by The Union supported by President Lincoln against the Confederate states. President Lincoln’s original goal during the civil war was to reunify the nation as quickly as possible and help both sides come to an understanding. After the Civil War ended in 1865, the newly formed United States’ reconstruction era began. The Reconstruction era was put into effect by the Congress in 1866 and lasted until 1877. The Union’s victory in the Civil War had given African Americans a new sense of hope, devastated the southern economy, and eased the history of disunity in American political life.
Reconstruction caused prejudice and inequality. To elaborate, the creation of the Ku Klux Klan and the Black Codes were both in the time period of reconstruction, which caused chaos and violence throughout the Union. One of the goals of reconstruction was to repair the economy in the South, because it depended on slavery, which was now illegal, due to the thirteenth amendment. The South’s economic system now depended on Sharecropping, which caused former slaves to be in constant debt and was unjust to the black society. The reconstruction time period, was a time of dispute between the Union.
Reconstruction era, which was followed by post-civil war, was meant to unite the states back together, reconstruct properties, and most importantly, abolish slavery in the South. Although the factors such as amendments legally freed former slaves, yet WRITE THESIS After the end of civil war in 1865, Reconstruction era, which was controlled by President Abraham Lincoln, appeared to quickly coalesce the Northern and Southern states. reconstruction amendments, which were approved between 1865 and 1870, played a huge role on giving legal rights to blacks and former slaves. 13th amendment constitutionally abolished slavery in 1865 and followed up by that, 14th and 15th amendment admitted equal citizenship, protection, and rights of suffrage despite the one’s race or skin color. Former slaves were no longer belongings of their owners.
The Reconstruction period lasted from 1865 to 1877. The thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth amendment were created during the twelve years of rebuilding the country. All of the amendments were made to protect former slaves and their rights but on paper they did not have any rights. The reconstruction period had its successes and failures.
Freedom is the right to act without restrictions from any sort of government, like the right to vote or the right to marry whoever you want. Reconstruction was the plan to create equality and unite the states together as one. The Reconstruction happened due to the Civil War and the effects that came along with it. It involved blacks because of their citizenship and other rights given from the amendments. Blacks were not truly free during Reconstruction, because they were required to carry special passes that the whites did not have to and were restricted from having weapons and to rent their own weapons.
It promoted freedom of speech, freedom of press, rights of ownership and association of land, and freedom of religion. It demolished certain discriminating systems and stripped the aristocracy of their power which in turn greatly influenced and inspired political and social reform throughout the surrounding countries. It also paved the way for Napoleon Bonaparte’s rise to power without whom we would have a very different modern
