The increasing popularity of distance education over the past decade, combined with instant access to information online, caused many to wonder if libraries are becoming obsolete. However, libraries not only survived the dramatic impact of the internet and mobile technology, but also embraced and integrated it into their services. By incorporating groundbreaking technological and sociological advances, yet also remembering tradition, librarians are bestowed with the important duty of being the gateway and guides into the world of education and intellectual integration of all classes, races, and genders in our very diverse society. A study conducted by Pew Research Center in 2013 found that most people strongly value the role of public libraries …show more content…
Worldwide people are changing their habits to find WiFi spots to join the crowd at coffee shops internet cafes and swarm to retailers, shops, and restaurants that offer free WiFi service. Once again there is a return to paying to communicate like the old home phones did prior. Not only does it costs money to talk on the phone but your data plan costs as well. For many teens from low income households, internet access via mobile phones offer a means of narrowing the digital divide, but it’s very costly. Brown et al. (2011) asks us to consider the paradoxical nature of the fact that teens from lower income families are paying more to access an inferior version of the Web. The majority of young lower income adults who pay for some or all of the cost of their cell phone rely on the internet capability of their cell phone more than those who have home based internet. Furthermore the internet is a place not only for social networking for teens but a gateway where education, information and cultural and social awareness come …show more content…
WiFi lending programs will not only benefit adults and seniors who are living in poverty, research shows people of all types rely on access to computers and internet lines at public libraries. These findings signal this is a moment when federal, state, and local governments should invest more, not less, in the computing capacity of the nation’s libraries to help advance a wide range of policy goals (Becker et al. (2010). WiFi loans may also be combined with loans for other mobile devices like eReaders, Netbooks, and Chromebooks, which many libraries have already initiated, this service will ensure that all library users will always have quick access to the library catalog wherever they are, and whenever they need it. This type of program will not only benefit the libraries that adopt it, but also positively impact the communities they

Technology is an important facet in today’s society which is why she believes things like “learn-to-read games and LeapFrog” have started to be used more frequently. Though she doesn’t believe that technology is going to nullify print media, she states that she believes if used right, technology and print media can be used “intertwined in a wonderful romance”. Statement of Intent: Urvashi Butalia’s article ‘India’s elites have a ferocious sense of entitlement’ published in the ‘New Internationalist magazine’, January 2013 issue, is a critique of the domineering influence by a few rich people over the poor people. But the deep divide of classes is not a good sign for growth and progress in India. This act requires teamwork. My coursework is a letter to the concerns raised by Urvashi Butalia, with an insistence that the duty for change lies as much with the rich classes as with the economically emerging classes of people. “Who in India would have the temerity to study the rich?”
Criteria #2 An article from a website that publishes statistical data, Statista, published an online resource that lists several statistics about the American pharmaceutical industry. The website lays out the information in bulleted topics that include graphs and varying topics. The statistics show that the United States affects the world commerce in pharmaceuticals by representing almost 50% of the total market. The United States exported from 2002 to 2016 approximately 52 billion dollars of pharmaceutical products throughout the world. Statista expects that pharmaceutical costs will continue to rise over the next few years, but some big name drugs however will be made available in the generic versions.

People nowadays believe that libraries are there to hold books and just act as an old storage place. But they are wrong, as libraries act to be the center of academic help and knowledge, and a massive resource for more than just information for school. Now that public libraries are rapidly improving to combat or stay with the technology being released, it gives the libraries that potential that people think just aren’t there. Originally, people would go to the library to help them in school and for projects, but now they don’t need to leave their home as they have the internet accessible to their phone or laptop at the comfort of their own bed. But now, people are thinking about those who don’t have access to a source of internet and go to the library.
Because of technological advancements and the influences of cell phones, lots of younger adults use cellular devices to communicate and interact rather than face to face interactions. Hyman’s study is exceptional because he uses statistics and data to present his point of view of technological influence. The source explains data of both the age groups and ultimately concludes, based on the studies, that cell phones have changed the lives of everyone via communication. Hyman also decides to throw in his thoughts on the matter, “I think this may explain why young adults are so attached to their cell phones. This isn’t an addiction.
