The Psycho Predator
Anti Personality Disorder pattern of disregarding or violating the rights of others. A person with an antisocial personality disorder may not conform to social norms, may repeatedly lie or deceive others, or may act impulsively. According to the American Psychiatric Association. In the novel The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, the character Assef suffers from Anti Personality Disorder or more specifically psychopathic behavior. Assef shows he is a psychopath by harassing Hassan and Amir, raping Hassan, lying about the rape, fighting with Amir, and joining the Taliban.

Assef has that symptom in the story. After the tournament, Amir was looking for Hassan and then discovered that Hassan was being assaulted by Assef. Assef decided to do the unthinkable to Hassan. Assef decided to rape Hassan. In the article called Development of Antisocial Personality Disorder in Detained Youth: The Predictive Value of Mental Disorders written by Jason J. Washburn. Jason states that “A hierarchical development model proposes that among youth with CD, only youth with early-onset, persistent, or “advanced” symptoms of CD (e.g., robbery, rape, assault with a weapon) will progress to having APD” (Washburn 2007). Not all people with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) will conduct sexual assault or rape, it is crucial to remember. However, there are a number of factors that may make some people with ASPD more likely to exhibit this behavior. First of all, people with ASPD could be less empathetic and unable to comprehend or care about the thoughts and feelings of others. Due to this, the victim's consent may be disregarded, and the harm that rape can cause may go unnoticed. Second, those who suffer from ASPD could behave more impulsively and carelessly, which might result in sexual assault. Additionally raising the risk of sexual assault, they might have a warped sense of entitlement and view others as objects to be used for their own enjoyment. When exploring these disturbing actions, we often wonder how someone could possibly possess the mental capabilities to carry out such heinous crimes. This paper will explore the connection between the mental and physical aspects that make up Psychopaths and sociopaths. In reality, everyone possesses a certain degree of cruelty. It is this aspect of human nature that Khaled Hosseini explores in The Kite Runner. Hosseini vividly depicts the cruelty of human nature by using anecdotes of Amir and Hassan’s childhood and by describing a Taliban-led Afghanistan. Both instances, despite the difference in magnitude, illustrate how cruelty can affect individuals and the society as a whole. Hosseini employs cruelty to serve as both a motivator as well as source of guilt for the protagonist, Amir.

Thought it may no be as apparent as Assef and Amir but Amir also bullied Hassan. Amir and Hassan have been friends since Amir's birth. Hassan thought of Amir as his best friend, but Amir thought of him as the families servant's son.
