According to the National Priorities Project, the United States is in over 18 trillion dollars in dept. The U.S. has been in dept. ever since this generation can remember. The problem with the holders in the office is that instead of making a plan to pay of the trillions of dollars we owe, they keep spending like it is no problem to be in dept. Obama announced at his State of The Union Address that he is proposing a free community college to better education. It is shown that it will cost a total of 80 billion dollars, putting the United States in more of a money knot. Chad Miller, Ph.D from southern Mississippi, pointed out that 61 percent of students fail to earn a degree from a community college in 6 years. If we apply the 61 percent of dropouts to the 80 billion dollars invested, then that would mean 48 billion would go down the drain. This is such a complicated matter meriting lots of investigation. Imagine what that 48 billion dollars could go to rather than being wasted. The United States cannot afford losing billions of dollars. It was quickly turned down due to financial issues. There was no way to pay for his plan then so why bring it back? Since 2012, every year America has added 2.39 billion dollars to the dept. The question over if this is feasible or not is fairly obvious. Do not get me wrong, the idea of having a free college to help those in need is illuminating. However, just because you want something doesn’t mean the right thing to do is to put yourself in dept. over it. As Americans we have to work to earn the things we want, and that includes waiting. The right thing to do for the United States is wait until we have the money to invest in the free
