The thing that excites me the most about Babson is probably the extraordinary amount of business that is offered. With my four years of high school I’ve been able to determine that business is something I want to do. My problem is actually pinpointing a degree field that I want to go into. The extensive variety of degrees offered at Babson gives me the opportunity to explore what I want to do. I want to choose something that excites me, that will never actually feel like a job. I’m looking for my dream career but am lost to what that is, and I believe that Babson’s business program is exactly the thing I need to determine what that career is. It’s probably the best thing about Babson in my eyes, and the thing I’m most excited about. Defining
Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) have an extensive history between the 1800s and 1900s. The first HBCU, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, was established in 1837 (Palmer, 2018). During the era of segregation, HBCUs were founded to provide higher education opportunities to Black students who were denied access to mainstream institutions due to racist policies and practices. The Morrill Act of 1890 played a significant role in the establishment and growth of HBCUs by requiring states to provide funding and land grants to Black colleges (NCES, 2020). As a result, many HBCUs were established across the United States.

The definition of the word volunteer is to freely offer to do something. Looking at that definition, they word “freely” is key in explaining what volunteering really is. Someone who volunteers should do it out of the kindness of their heart and truly believe in what they are volunteering for without expecting or receiving any recognition of payment for their volunteer work. Although I believe any volunteer work is great not only for our community, but also for the individual, I am conflicted on the Silver Cord program. The Silver Cord program at Waukee High School provides great opportunities for high schoolers to give back to the community and get involved in other volunteering positions, however, do these high schoolers really volunteer their time for the betterment of their community?

The impact of Excelsior Scholarship As a college bound New York student, the Excelsior Scholarship would play an incredible impact in my life. Students who are already living in New York who will be able to attend college full time will be able to benefit from this generosity. However, although this is a wonderful opportunity students who desperately need it may not be able to participate in it. Let’s consider students who work part time or full time, or for various other reasons can only do part time studies what will they do?

You are given real life situations and you must find the best way to deal with it. Of course, you'll also have to take financing classes, which involve critical math skills, and thinking, so this isn't a major for those who hate math. You can also gain experience by interning at

When I add up the years from primary school to graduate school and include work-related certification courses along with classes of personal interest, I have been a “formal” student for over 35 of my 46 years. After hearing this some may think that I enjoy learning, but truthfully learning is not something I have always valued. As a college student, I transferred schools and changed majors multiple times before withdrawing a semester and a half from graduating to get married. Then six months after getting married, my wife asked what I planned on doing for a living. I really did not have a plan, but knowing it would be advantageous for me to find a career, I decided to do what every former aviation/general business student opts to do.
