Robots have evolved over centuries. Beginning with robots that counted time to robots that build other robots, robots have developed into the defining creation of the 21st century. Robots help us communicate, give us access to a wealth of information, and entertain us. They are the most widely used things in today’s modern culture and you cannot live for one day without using them. Phones, computers, washing machines, and TVs are all forms of robots that we use in our everyday lives. Our lives have become so dependent on robots that do simple tasks for us. Up until recently, robots have been all but a friend to humans. All they have done in the past is manual labor. But with the advancement of technology, a robot can now be your friend. Firstly, why would social robots need rights? If there is no need to give social robots rights, then why should we? Secondly, are social robots really intelligent, or are they just pretending to be? This question of true intelligence determines if they should or shouldn’t get human rights. In addition, what is the difference between social robots and humans? If social robots are not truly intelligent and are not human, then we should not give them human rights. Finally, why shouldn’t social robots receive rights? I propose that social robots should not get these rights. The objective of this paper is to help explain why social robots should not get rights. Social robots are becoming more and more anthropomorphized, or becoming more like a human in their physical form as well as their behavior. So, why should social robots receive human rights?

In order to understand why social robots should not get rights, it is important to know the reasons of which they should get rights. Without knowing why people would want to give social robots human rights, it is hard to see why they should not get
