Formal teams are created to serve a specific purpose. They may be delegated to solve and fix certain tasks pertaining to the race car. Thus, formal groups within a racing team could be the pit crew members, the engineers who are specialized to design certain areas and mechanics. Expertise has to be given. This is a sport where people lives are potentially at risk. I believe that authority rule is significantly present in this sport. Therefore, the car chief will fix the problems along with the other mechanics. Therefore, although everyone may not be the primary decision makers, their opinions are still important for the team to succeed. The engineers may come to a majority rule on how something should be built. Therefore, different situations mean different decision
For example, if Lowes head manager tells each of its workers that they are going to only serve people who ask for help because he is tired of seeing time wasted. This manager is only going by his side of things. While step 7 is implemented it is not successfully used. While being used in the Lowes manner, “Implementing the Decision” as team to allow each hardware section to decide whether to ask each customer they see if they “need help,” or wait for the customers to ask the employees. Allowing for each team member to change methods and accomplish step 8 by “Evaluating the Decision.”

Furthermore, a short-term formal group within racing may consist of individuals focus on a specific problem area such as lack of support from fans. Each one of these formal groups has a specific function that helps with the success and achievement of goals of the racing team. An informal group within an organization emerges following behind the formal groups and are created by the employees themselves (Uhl-Bien, Osborn, & Schermerhorn, 2014). I notice that each member has a different characteristic that shapes the team dynamic, which is the unseen forces that strongly influence how a team reacts, performs, or solve problems (William, 2013). Learning from the extensive interaction in the CP course and my professional experiences as HR Professional, I know that a leader should understand her team members’ characteristics, particularly their strengths, weaknesses, personalities, and build a same perspective/vision to facilitate team effectiveness. This initiative will enable each member to contribute their talent, develop a collective agreement to solve problems and achieve the team’s goal effectively.
