In the artwork "Going to the Olympics , 1984" by Frank Romero, i see that is has a lot of meanings to it. it has a lot of little pictures in the big picture. The biggest thing that stands out are the cars. The cars mean there is a lot of traffic out here in Los Angeles. As you can tell the cars have the same colors as the olympics logo. There are also some big hearts on top of each car. It might mean that there is love all around the air. It could also mean thats he really loves join to the olympics. In the top middle of the picture there is a blimp. The blimp could stand for the nice view that Los Angeles has. The meaning of the palm trees could be the nice sunny weather we get out here. The two guys fighting at the very top could be what he would like to do if he was in the olympics. …show more content…
He paints the cars the color of the olympic rings that being green, red, yellow, and blue and besides that these colors are vibrant and make the artwork pop. The mood the picture gives is uplifting and aftonishing because of the vibrant color the mural has. The colors is what makes it portrayed as a happy image because of the use of bright color and the lack of dull colors. Romero puts these cars so close to eachother to represent the traffic here in Los Angeles. In 1984 people saw Romero's artwork and were amazed by it and cared for it until 2001 were they began to care less for it. People began to care less for it in 2001 which led to tagging and damage on his mural. Drivers began to notice tagging on his artwork but they did nothing about it, because they weren't damaging there cars or property. Since no one said a word about his work being damaged the city stopped caring for it. Romero then complained to the city about it, they said they would fix but they never and they just painted over it. The people became immune to taggers since to harm was being done to

These symbols represent what happens to each character in the second book in the Maximum Ride series, called School's Out-Forever. The wings symbolize that the seven kids, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel, are avian-human hybrids. The earth symbolizes that Max is supposed to save the world. The scratch marks show that Fang will fight, even when his life is at stake, in order to save his brothers and sisters. The two rings represent when Iggy found his real parents.
Throughout this semester as a class we have gone over many different terminology, seen many artists from all different countries and time periods. We have also learned about different kinds of art and media that the Artist work with. Over the entire semester I have gained a greater appreciation and understanding for art. Taking all of the new information that I learned this semester I choose three pieces of artwork from the St. Louis Art Museum. Two are similar to each other and the other is very different.
The Architectural Fantasy by Hubert Robert is an oil painting created in 1802. For an architectural painting, is displays much emotion through the use of color, line, and light. The painting does not utilize a multitude of colors but still is able to provide an exciting scene. Although it does not appear to be that large in the gallery, the work would actually be prominent if it were a standalone piece. The artist’s use of perspective, light, and color give the overall composition a balanced look.
Aylin Reta 88729977 ARTH 1306 Christ with the Symbols of the Passion Christ with the Symbols of the Passion is a work by Italian painter Lavinia Fontana, its medium is oil on panel and it was executed on 1576. In this piece we see, what seems to be, Christ after he was brought down from the cross. He is sitting at the center of the piece with multiple angels besides him. The color palette seems dark and obscure as well as the overall mood of the piece. He is surrounded by symbols that are significant to the process of His crucifixion such as the cross, the crown of thorns, a whip, and is also surrounded by three angels.
We can see the use of symbolism because of the fear Sergio and the narrator have towards their mother taking the grinding ball. Something perfect for them. Another thing that is precious to them is the Arroyo. A piece of nature that reflect their life filled with wonder and imagination where they can let their inner child out. A place where they wont get reprimanded or a journey toward adulthood.
He could also be drawing a picture on the wall of the sun and grass, to show he is dreaming of his home. Page 33: The Special Gift
Gary Ross demonstrates through film that the ideas of narrative strategy can greatly impact a film and the way it is perceived. Gary Ross uses many examples of narrative techniques to transform a way a scene is being shown, turning points are a crucial part of The Hunger Games storyline, with many used to keep audiences engaged. An aspect of The Hunger Games is that there can only be one crowned victor within The Games, having the rules being changed to transform the games into having two crowned victors changes the idea of how audiences see the storyline, with the questioning of who will survive. The suspense of the unknowingness of how the film will build on storylines and conclude keeps audiences engaged to build on future turning points.
It serves as a contrast between who Arnold is and who he is disguised as. The car symbolizes the fantasy and the reality aspect of Arnold. The new paint job on his car is used to symbolize Arnold’s fake disguise that he puts on to lure Connie in. Arnold’s car becomes a major example of his dark appearance and nature. The color of his car which is gold represents being flashy.
As his feelings awaken so does the landscape around him. Finally, the landscape represents vanished past as Jim wishes he could go back to the past and take everything back as he sees how happy Antonia is. The next symbol is the plow. It symbolizes the connections between humans and the connection to nature. It shows that humans are closer to nature then they think.
Warhol’s image of The Birmingham Race Riot has reached many audiences for different reasons. Despite the reasons behind the image, the traditional roles of an artist are apparent in Warhol’s image. In my opinion, Andy Warhol’s image is a record of people, places and events. His role with this particular image is also to give visible feeling and tangible form to the feelings of the victims of this race riot. The image clearly tells a story of who, what, when, and where pertaining to the riots.
The colors in the novel bear a rich symbolic and emotional potential. In this novel, the author makes extensive use of color, which acquire the symbolic value and serve as a tool for the disclosure of the artistic world. Colors become an integral part of the character of the world and reveal their nature, serve as a means of an opposition of some characters to each other. In addition, every writer, along with the traditional associations, also has its own individual vision of color symbolism. Therefore, in order to understand the true meaning of the work, it is necessary to understand these implications.
As the camera zooms out slowly and we hear crickets chirping, we are introduced to the charming world of “What’s eating Gilbert Grape”. The film that many have come to love, along with its extremely famous actors, was released in 1993 in the United States and directed by Lasse Hallstrom. Endora, Iowa is the home of the Grape family, it’s a small, unchanging town where the main character Gilbert (Johnny Depp) feels trapped and death seems to be the only way out. Gilbert provides for his mother, sisters, and his autistic brother, Arnie (Leonardo Di Caprio). “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” is in many ways an unrealistic and demeaning view of autism.
In the well-known novel The Wizard Of Oz, the author, L. Frank Baum, uses colors as symbolism and to set a certain mood throughout the story. The use of color is very important as it gives life to the setting and as stated before, helps set the mood. Without the description of color the story would definitely be more bland and forgettable. If someone were to take away the color description in the names The Yellow Brick Road, The Emerald City, and The Silver Slippers, then it wouldn't be iconic or come off to the reader as important. Also the symbolism in them would be harder to interpret.
