If you were to come up to me two years ago and told me I would like to write. Ha! I would of laughed so hard, but I have. I have come to love to write. Not just fiction and creative writing, but research papers. I like the process of reading the article and then in your own words write something else. The thing is that this weird magical forces has only now come to me. This made me realize that a person can change and become something completely different in only a short period of time. So I have given in to Casey's lessons she is always giving about life. That you can change if you do something every day for a short period of time. You can become better and leap ahead of where you would of been. Honestly I have had my ups and downs about math. When I came to this school I liked math, then I didn’t, and now I have come to understand it. I am very stubborn and don’t like listening to what adults have to say about stuff. I like to put my guard up and just never change, but eventually we will change. Math to me has been a roller coaster ride. One day you are making major strides and the next you hate the idea of math, and questioning why it exists in the first place. All of this is to say that I have come really far. …show more content…
I used to have terrible music tastes. I would listen to the worst top 40’s. That is a quote from “the perks of being a wallflower”. I thought that was important. Movies can help you in school. Now I know good music when I hear it. I am not saying I still don’t listen to one direction, but not as much. I have picked up the bass from the help of the inter webs. I taught myself the guitar and know the basics on the ukulele. I have not mastered any of these things, but I feel it is necessary for me to know these things if I want to be interested in music. Music has helped me take feedback in a good way. I can use the feedback to become better, and I can use that feedback to help teach someone else that
Reading and Writing are Important Stephen King's "Reading to Write" (72) give details about King's methods on becoming a better writer. To become a better writer, you must read a whole heap of books. There are so many other things you can read other than books like magazines, newspapers, labels on food, and papers. As a student in college, I understand Stephen King's methods. Reading and Writing will help me further my college education, and it will help me get to my goal.
Joining band had an immense and almost immediate impact on my life. Before being in band I had never had a talent that I felt completely confident in. I enjoyed practicing and spent many hours trying to improve my musical ability. In
There 's a saying from where I come from, " The devil is wise, not because his the devil. It 's because he 's old" It made me understand how music can make older people happy, and how much it helps them remember. Right now I 'm young, but one day I will be old, and I want to have music when the time comes. Music Is going to help me relive my greatest moments in life. My body won 't move as it did before, but with the power of music I will be
Math is often one of the hardest subjects to learn. Teachers know rules that can help students, but often they forget that those rules become more nuanced than presented.
I wish I was able to write about something that I enjoy. Since I write a lot for my course/assignments I do have writing assignments that I am most proud of. My 9th grade final research
Knowing how to sing is a blessing that may come naturally to some people, but to others it requires practice and effort to learn how to properly develop this gift. Having seen many live performances and having a dad who could sing was an inspiration for me to develop such a talent. Music has always been my passion, and I knew that singing would give me another exciting opportunity to enjoy the feeling performance creates. I did not have a natural voice from a young age so learning to sing was challenging and pushed me beyond my orchestral limits--emotionally and physically--but with the strong desire I had and the toil I was willing to endure when learning this art, I persevered to becoming a singer.
This is far from the truth. For one, music doesn’t cause any changes to your brain that “make you smarter”. A Harvard University study finds that the widely accepted claim of “Music makes you smarter” is actually false, because the cognitive benefit of music was either insignificant or non-existent. Boston college psychology professor Ellen Winner backs this up by saying that trying to justify music by saying it will make you good at math is misguided. This proves that the claim most commonly used by supporters of music classes holds very little water.
“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything” (Plato). If my childhood was filled with anything: it was imagination. From my earliest memories of my cousin, and I putting on a sold out concert on my papaw’s front porch; to putting my baby dolls to sleep with lullabies. Music has always been a big part of my life: it was the one thing I could always count on, no matter where I went; and that still stands true today.
III. Finally, music offers many advantages to those who listen. A. Medically, certain music can help significantly in healing the mind and the body. 1. Music therapists are professionals trained to use music and/or musical instruments to promote overall health and well-being in their patients (“Positive & Negative…,” 2017).
When I first met someone who didn’t like the book I was beyond shocked. Right at that moment, I realized that reading has its own effects on me. Reading has changed my writing skills, it has improved my knowledge and lastly, it has helped me manage my stress while going through hard times. Without reading I wouldn’t be the person that I am today.
At a young age, I constantly wanted to express myself through music. I always found a way to incorporate music into my daily life, whether it be by blasting my favorite music, creating my own funky songs, or even having the opportunity to participate in my elementary school choir. My love for music actually took flight after I had decided to join my elementary school choir, however, in my opinion, it is not the most transformative moment in my life. After elementary
When people are asked when they decided to choose their career, the typical answer is that they have known they wanted to be in that career field since they were little kids. In Lorrie Moore’s short story, How to Become a Writer, she is able to bring . By using irony and having a humorous, yet mocking tone, Moore is able to tell the readers that the journey to becoming a writer is not easy and does not come naturally. In the beginning of the story, the readers are able to pick up Moore’s humorous and slightly mocking tone which helps the story become relatable because almost everyone has had a person make fun of their career choice.
What does writing mean to me? Writing means getting people engaged in your piece. It means people wanting to keep reading what you wrote. The biggest thing about writing to me is expressing your thoughts and letting your mind go. Using good word choice and having a strong voice in the writing is something that makes it good.
I have learned how to read musical pieces, how to play different piano-like instruments, and how to better organize my thoughts and critical thinking. I am a sophomore in high school and have been for a while now. That makes the experience of me being in band a time period of one to two years. Band has changed me for the better, whether it be me learning how to navigate myself through life or music, it has been there for me for a long time now. Without band and music, I do not know who I would be.
I find that the beauty of math is in the process, and if students learn to care more for that instead I think they will understand more math. While being stressed is definitely my biggest weakness in math my biggest strength would be conceptualizing problems in new ways. Often when I was in college of high school when math becomes more complex and there are more than one way to solve the problem I would enjoy exploring that. I would try and look for the most effective way to solve problems it helped me to avoid the trap of getting the right answer being the goal. This is something that has definitely got stronger the more math I master.
