"Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare has many themes within the book. The main one being the Inevitability of Destiny. When the Chorus starts describing Romeo and Juliet as "star-crossed lovers". That automatically shows that fate has the power over their relationship. You can attribute their fate to them meeting and fall in love. Fate led Juliet was the daughter of Romeo's family’s enemy. Yet love was able to grow despite the feud between the two families. In the book, it stated, “their affection is profound to the point that they will end their lives with all due respect” (Romeo and Juliet). Throughout the play, love rises as a disrespectful thing. In the beginning of the play, the motif of love versus hate is displays by figurative language and metaphors. Shakespeare use love versus hate to add tension in the plot. In the play, two lovers fall in love despite the conflict that is going on between their families knowing that there will be consequences. Fate brought Romeo and Juliet together in the beginning,and tore them from each other in the end. It brought them together in the beginning when Romeo snuck into the capulet’s party. When Romeo met Juliet, he forgot about Rosaline. He says this himself in act 2 scene 3 page 4 that Rosaline did not love him back and he had forgot about her. It tore them apart when Romeo heard that his Juliet was dead.
The characters named Romeo and Juliet are introduced to each other at a mascaraed ball, which then the two soon begin to fall for each other and later realize there families are rivals of each other. While both soon fall deeply in love they know they are destined for great things but are more likely to be punished for loving ones kind. After multiple times of being punished, separated and bashed on for loving ones kind repeatedly the two chose to stay together.
