My career goal is to become a surgical nurse practitioner. My first objective is to attend Pellissippi State Community College (PSCC) where I intend to become licensed as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), so that I can work during the summer months, to gain experience. Once I complete my course of study at Pellissippi, I plan to attend Tennessee Technological University’s competitive nursing program. This nursing program is the best in the state, according to my college adviser, and I look forward to the challenges of being accepted.
After I graduate in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, my goal is to work in the operating room to gain additional experience, while also obtaining a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care program. I am eager to learn from these universities how to solve complex problem solving, think critically, and practice clinical experience so that I may approach my chosen field with confidence.

I aspire to make a huge impact in patients’ lives as a caring, compassionate nurse, giving them the support they need for a better recovery. I would appreciate and be grateful for this scholarship because it would help me focus more on my school work, reduce my stress over financial concerns, and carry on my family’s tradition of independently working my way through college without financial assistance from my parents. I look forward to working in a solid, lifelong career with constant excitement and challenges, and where learning something new every day is the
I chose TTUHSC SOM because of the ability to learn medicine in a place that values the art of patient care in its foundation as well as the ability to do anything I hope to do in medicine guided by the strength of its mission and the care that TTUHSC SOM provides for its students. I would like to conduct my medical career in a setting that converges between urban and rural settings. My parents brought their strong work ethic from Ghana, cultivated on their family’s farms, to Austin, Texas where it was critical in encouraging my own desire to work in close contact with a diverse population of patients. My experiences in the communities I’ve lived in and health care have provided me with the insight to work within both types of areas. My most prominent experiences in health care have come from working in clinics that serve underserved populations.
My contribution to the mission of Nurse Corps Scholarship Program will not be limited to the help in which is needed. It has always been my desire to help others. Working in the medical field now as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, and as a Direct Care worker for the mentally disabled has trained me to face many different challenges with the correct approach. Also as a Licensed Evangelist Missionary, in my Christian belief, I have had the opportunity to work in the communities helping others in the time of need. With all that I have seen and learned through my work experience and through the church, I will be able to contribute the love, the nurturing, and the comforting of the individual in need while providing the care
Becoming an Anesthesia Assistant would allow me to work as a healthcare professional, help people in their time of need, and have an increasingly dynamic career. I know that my attention to detail, creativity, and critical thinking capacity developed over years working in the medical field make me an ideal candidate for the Master’s of Medical Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant program at Emory University. As my life progresses, I have created a desire for a profession that offers a varied assortment of opportunities. I find it gratifying to have a career that is not only rewarding for caring for surgical patients, but also the attraction of a career that is a life long learning process. The attractiveness of a career with different possibilities and education expansion is energizing and motivational.
I am driven and determined to have a career in nursing by becoming a student at NYU College of Nursing. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from a deep desire to help people. Nurses have the ability to see people at their worst, while helping them become their best. This is the most rewarding experience and an experience that I want to obtain. Being a trilingual nursing student, I would love to use the skills I acquired in nursing to help the immigration population of NYC and translate for patients with language
My passion for nursing practice defies description; leading to the reason I am opting to pursue a higher level of education in nursing. The George Washington University School of nursing has one of the highly ranked master’s programs in the country, which offers a competitive curriculum and highly defined leadership skills that integrates technology into learning. It is therefore my desire to pursue an advance education at this facility because it prepares practitioners to become great clinicians ready to solve real-world clinical problems. Moreover, the opportunity to pursue a degree in this facility will afford me the ability to be a competent and highly efficient family nurse practitioner; that will serve the community and mostly the underserved. I am the last child in a family of eight that has aspired to pursue my education at the graduate level.
My Intent to Be a Nurse Practitioner Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, proceding to nursing school was a grand opportunity. The privilege to attend a government subsidized school where top students in the region compete to get into the program that allowed only 60 students per year was indeed a blessing. As clinical rotations began, what was once considered a mere opportunity evolved into a true passion for caring as I truly love and enjoy nursing and helping people.
I have decided to pursue nursing and apply for the second degree accelerated nursing program; I consider myself a highly motivated individual with a value of strong work ethic. I can certainly distinguish myself as a person with numerous interests, a range of skills and goals. My Goals are to become a highly skilled nurse, work for the united state military and help save lives. Just like my father, I would love to provide a great humanitarian service, not for the pay or the glory or the recognition but to save lives, give hope, provide care, love and touch
I just completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and look forward to exploring nursing theory, evidence-based practice and leadership even further in the advance practice curriculum. I am pursuing family nurse practitioner because it will allow me to be more versatile in my nursing skills and serve a larger patient population. There has been a focus on primary care medicine since the Affordable Care Act; resulting in a larger need for nurse practitioners required to care for this patient population. I have been granted an opportunity to advance my career and I am more than ready to take on the added responsibilities and handle treatment plans autonomously, as well as learning additional skills such as diagnosing and prescribing medications. By obtaining my graduate level education my clinical judgment would be enhanced to improve safety, quality of care and patient outcomes substantially.
These internships helped me get an inside perspective of how nurses go above and beyond their everyday duties to ensure patient care, setting a standard for me to go above and beyond in terms of my education, my service to others, and in life. With the changes in college tuition having increased and state support for college students having taken a decrease over the last couple of years, this scholarship would benefit me tremendously in my goals to continue my education.
After finishing my bachelorette in nursing in 2015, I felt that I was not finished with my educational journey. I wanted to go further, and be able to provide more
“These abilities are essential for today 's professional nurse who must be a skilled provider, designer, manager, and coordinator of care (AACN, 2010). My goal is to be the safest nurse I can be and deliver a high quality of care to all of my patients. I would want the same if I was the patient. I want to grow my career and achieve my nurse practioner degree. I chose UAB School of nursing to advance my education for the convenience of having all online classes and the campus being available if I need to access it.
I believe I am best to be candidate for this scholarship because I am focused on achieving my academic, professional, and personal goals. As a child I realized I was quite different from others, from my name to my skin tone. I also realized that my learning skills were different, my reading ability was different, and something’s it took me long to grasp. I didn’t really come from a well off family, but I didn’t mind, even when
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. I’m very passionate and fascinated with the medical field in all aspects. I strive for excellence, integrity and love interacting with all diversity of people.
Since I was a child, I always strived to reach my goals and ambitions. As I have gone through my high school, undergraduate, and graduate classes I have encountered many roadblocks and have experienced maturation in my character. Prior to attending my undergraduate institution, I received a full scholarship from the Gates Millennium Scholar Program that was a key factor in facilitating me to reach my goals. Going through my undergraduate studies I searched for ways that will further develop skills that I believe, will aid me as a student and as a physician. I eventually began to shadow a physician, volunteer at a hospital, and joined medical related organizations.
I believe this scholarship would grant me a real shot at a challenging and bountiful career and the ability to help others who have faced adversities and the community at whole. I am interested in gaining a PhD in psychology and taking several courses in languages and the arts so I can apply them to a career path while having a broadened and well rounded outlook on life. I hope to be able to study abroad if possible and do developmental work in a country that will dare me to evolve as a person. A deserving candidate for this scholarship, as I interpret it, has a passion for knowledge and is dedicating themselves to earning their degree and bettering the community. The goals I have held myself accountable for since a young age include going to college and earning my degree.
