BACKGROUND: Cityjog was founded on January 01, 2016 in Chicago Illinois, located in the diverse community of Hyde Park. Hyde Park is seven miles south of downtown Chicago and home of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. We are a small retail sports apparel store, which operates with twenty-five employees, specializing in athletic apparel and accessories. Our store supports and sells products from major manufacturers such as Nike, Puma, Adidas, Reebok, Converse and New Balance to name a few. Cityjog was originally founded as a retail business and within the first year of operation created an online sports store as well. This would include identifying Walmart’s competitive advantage, itemizing their marketing strategy, listing their pricing and knowing their target audience. Creating a product or service which is unique to customers is another way our company could compete with Walmart. However, the merchandise should be marketed in such a manner that it makes the consumers feel the product is exclusive to our store. Larger businesses ultimately have an array of advantages over their smaller competitors. For instance Walmart has a more recognizable brand and they can easily outspend smaller businesses like ours, on marketing and advertising in order to secure that advantage. Walmart in this case would more than likely use economies of scale to undercut us on pricing. I believe one area where Cityjoy would find advantageous is in the area of flexibility. More often times than not, larger businesses like Walmart who find themselves continuing to grow, find it hard to change direction quickly. Smaller retail company’s like Cityjog would be able to respond much faster to new trends and or current
