This quote defines everything Harper Lee was trying to express in To Kill a Mockingbird when she said, "Real courage is when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what." The meaning of this quote is that you need to stand up for what you believe in, no matter what stands in your way. This quote is true because many people are scared to do things and back out. However when they do what they are scared of they prove they have bravery and are often rewarded. Examples of fighting for what you believe in can be seen in To Kill a Mockingbird when Atticus accepts the Tom Robinson case, in history when Rosa Parks refuses to give up her bus seat, as well as in current events when a thirteen year old acted selfless.
