“JOB” There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil (Job 1:1). The bible told us that Job was from the land of Uz. Uz was the son of Dishan the great grandson of Esau, whose wife was Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the son of Zibeon the Canaanite Hivite (Genesis 36: 1-2, 5, 14, 18, 20-21; 25, 28). The kingdom of Uz was located in the kingdom of Edom (Lamentations 4:21). Esau is Edom, and his kingdom was located in the country hill of Seir, which was given to him by God to possess after he separated from his brother Jacob in the land of Canaan (Genesis 36:6-9, 19; 32:3 Deuteronomy 2:4-5, 12, 22; Joshua 24:4). The Amalekites who were the offspring’s of Esau dwelled in mount Seir, and they were later invaded by the sons of Simeon (1 Chronicles 4:42-43; …show more content…
Jehoshaphat fought against the Moabites, and Ammonites descendants of Lot, Abraham’s nephew, and the people of mount Seir who came from Edom against the Israelites, and they were defeated by Jehoshaphat and their land was later given to the tribe of Judah (2 Chronicles 20:2, 22-25;
His troops also moved south far up the Nile and conquered Nubia, which had once thrown off Egyptian rule.” Strong and powerful leaders caused Egypt to expand across large quantities of land, all the way to the Euphrates River. During the Old Kingdom, Egypt stretched from the Nile Delta, along the Nile River to a little past Thebes, the capitol of Egypt before Amenhotep’s reign. During the Middle Kingdom, Egypt stretched a little further south, past the tropic of cancer, but it was only during the New Kingdom when dramatic changes occurred. Because of all the conquests, Egypt stretched all the way to Syria, by the Euphrates
In my opinion, both Job and Odysseus were two of the most courageous upstanding men that I had ever seen. Job did whatever he could to keep his faith in God and at the same time, Job’s family was very important to him as well. No matter what test and tribulations that Job endured and went through, he refused to let anyone or anything get in the way of him and his faithfulness that he had for the lord. Job was chosen as a subject of a stern test of confidence, since he was undeniably the best man of confidence alive. God announced that Job’s loyalty and faith was in fact genuine.
By the 12th century BCE, the freed Hebrews came to the promised land, prophesied by Yahweh. The Hebrews formed twelve tribes, known as the tribes of Israel.(purdue) There were ten tribes in the northern section and two in the southern section.(purdue) This period, before the start of the United Kingdom monarchy, was known as the period of the Judges (1200-1000 BCE).(purdue) At the end of this period, still lacking a central monarchy, the tribes started to become in control of Philistines.(purdue)
The Battle of Kadesh was fought between the Egyptians and the Hittites to gain control Syria. This battle took place in the reign of Ramses II. The battle of Kadesh ended in favor of Amurru to Egypt. Many of the tribe members died as they fled. They finally gave up and surrendered to the soldiers after Chief Joseph gave his famous speech, “Hear me my Chiefs, I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever.”
To end the story a thunderstorm rolls in and Prometheus is left chained to the rock. The Book of Job is a story about a man who “feared God and turned away from evil” (Job 1:1, ESV). He was a very wealthy man who had ten children, many livestock, and many servants. Satan speaks to God one day and God gives him permission to test Job’s faith. Satan begins by taking away Job’s children, killing his livestock,
The book of Revelations was written by the Apostol John after God spoke directly with him on the island of Patmos. We can read God’s interaction with John in Revelations 1:9 & 3:22. This week we reached the stage in Job’s life where God finally spoke directly to Job from inside a whirlwind.
Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the East; in Eden…” (Genesis 2:8). The Garden of Eden incorporates into the biblical story of God’s creation of the Earth and fall to sin by Adam and Eve. The Garden, which Bible scholars believe is located in the Middle East, draws connections with the short story The House On Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.
The Assyrians are a group of people that came from the northern part of Mesopotamia. Their flat, exposed land made them easy for other people to attack them. The empire lasted from about 850 B.C. to 612 B.C. It is believed that they may have developed their warlike behavior in response to invasions. Through constant warfare, Assyrian kings were able to eventually build an empire that stretched from east and north of the Tigris River all the way to central Egypt.
Later, they came to the land of Job to ask if he would help them. Jepthah reluctantly
The biblical account does admit that Jehu’s army was defeated by Hazael. Dan, the northermost city of Israel that bordered on the territory of Aram, was most likely taken over by King Hazael. So it is plausible that Hazael would erect a victory monument at the city. The Tel Dan stele is considered the first historical evidence of King David from the Bible. It proved that David was a genuine historical figure and not simply a fantasy created by Biblical authors.
The industrial capitalist economy sounds great and when done right would be optimal. Unfortunately for the people of this emerging times, a few men took what could 've been great and manipulated it and turned it into a greed-filled business. Don’t get me wrong, there are many positives with the birth of the industrial capitalist economy, but do these positives outweigh the terrible conditions workers were put in at the hands of greedy businessmen? Do these positives outweigh the many families who lost everything they worked for their entire life because businessmen used the system and cheated them out of opportunities? Everyone deserves the same rights as these businessmen and without proper steps being taken to find solutions for these inequalities,
The Book of Job deals with the bigger issues Christians would face. If one believes in a righteous force that oversees the earth, then why is there an evil force? Job finds out that he is not allowed to ask the universe for justice because he is unaware of how the universe works. Job is a wealthy man who lives with his large family and his voluminous livestock. He tried his best to avoid evil, not just for himself but for everyone in his family.
In one act of restoration, he initiated the battle of Kadesh. The territory of Kadesh was taken by the Hittites, who because of this addition, now controlled all of northern Mesopotamia. Ramses led his powerful battalion into western Asia. The army was ambushed and Ramses claims to have prayed to Amon, his god, and asked for protection and then he says that the army overcame the Hittites and trampled them. However the Hittite recollection of the battle states that the Egyptians were too overwhelmed and were forced to retreat to the south.
to act. Deborah initiated, organized, and planned the military campaign against the great Canaanite general, Sisra, in order to conquer the valley of Jezre’el. After Israel had been subjugated to the Canaanites for twenty years, Deborah decided to change things. Deborah had no intention of personally leading the troops in battle, however, after some pressure; she agreed to be present at the military camp of Israel. Deborah plays a major role in the military campaign, deciding the number of warriors needed, planning strategy, defining military parameters and goals.
