Your Honor and Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, in this case, we are here to prove that one night in the park Johnny Cade a violent, dirty, angry greaser pulled out his knife- the knife he had been carrying around waiting to get revenge on Bob Sheldon- and murdered him. Bob, Randy, and David stopped to take a stroll in the park where Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade were waiting to attack. This is something Dallas Winston, a multiple-time offender, would do, Johnny looked up to Dallas. Therefore, we will be looking to convict Johnny Cade of first-degree murder. First of all, Johnny wanted revenge; he knew it was Bob Sheldon who had beaten him in the lot, and left a scar all the way down one side of his face, Johnny would always carry that scar with him. Johnny used the emotions he had and turned them into rage, Johnny was always ready for a fight. According to the text, “Johnny ‘s face was cut up and bruised and swollen…He would carry that scar all his life.”(32) As a result, Johnny… “ Now carried in his back pocket a six-inch switchblade. He’d use it, too, if he ever got jumped again. They had scared him that much. He would kill the next …show more content…
Johnny looked up to Dallas Winston, a thief, and multiple-time offender. Still, Johnny wanted to be just like Dallas. This led to the murder of Bob Sheldon. For example, “Johnny worshipped the ground Dallas walked on, and I had never heard Johnny talk back to anyone, much less his hero”(25). Second,“If something beefed him, he didn’t keep quiet about it… He was dangerous” (89). As stated, “I didn’t know you were out of the cooler yet, Dally (12). Dallas Winston is a bad influence on Johnny. He has been in and out of jail, he is a “dangerous” hood, he hurts people. Johnny worshiped Dallas and based his actions on trying to impress him. This made Johnny a violent, hurtful, dirty, Greaser like
The court has both Steve and James King on trial and we the reader have to question ourselves based on evidence and hearings as to what the verdict should be for Steve Harmon. Steve Harmon should be found not guilty of felony murder. Throughout the book, Steve Harmon presents the reader with his personality and his moral values as a person, as seen through his actions and talking to
These to have a history of quarrels and stick-ups. I believe that Johnny is not justified in what he did and is guilty because he had the intent to kill a Soc for attacking him before and wanted revenge, he killed the wrong person, and he was carrying a concealed switchblade. The first reason that leads me to believe that Johnny is guilty is that he wanted revenge because the socs had attacked him before. The text tell us that after the attack, Johnny started carrying “in his back
Johnny Webb was Tod’s jailmate and told the jury that Tod confessed to his crimes. This evidence was very shady because of his statement,”I don’t remember, you know what I’m saying. Something to put pressure on somebody to do something to get me out.” Johnny was a notorious liar and other evidence was found that after he gave his testimony, his sentence was shortened. Almost always, a prisoner will do anything to get their sentence shortened.
Many people are charged for acts they believe were innocent , but others can plead guilty for all the wrong reasons. Johnny Cade was walking through the park on the East side of town with 14 year old, Ponyboy Curtis. As they were walking, Robert Sheldon of the Social gang, had threatened the two young men due to too much alcohol. The two boys were looking for a way to get out of this situation, but the Socials had already surrounded them along with threatening the two. Curtis was beginning to drown when Randy (another member of the Socials) was ordered to by Sheldon.
Dallas Winston became someone who felt like he needed to stop people from going through what he did. He became someone who shows that he cares/is looking out for them. Dallas Winston became this way because of all of the hardships and struggles that Johnny was slowly going through.
Johnny explained to them that when the socs beat him they were wearing rings on their fingers, explaining why his face was cut up so badly. (Elaboration of your point and evidence) This happened to Johnny just because he was a part of a different group than the socs. Maybe none of this would have happened if society didn’t divide greasers and socs. The socs had no reason to beat Johnny so horribly.
Young Robert “Bob” Sheldon was killed tragically a few weeks ago. The teen was only 18. He was violently stabbed through the back and left at the park. Police found the body the next day in a pool of his own blood. The murderer proved to be Johnny Cade, a young teen as well.
Dallas has been trouble his whole life. He's known for being a delinquent and causing trouble where ever he goes. His pals Ponyboy and Johnny were young men that looked up to Dallas as role model. If there was any conflict or concern about something the boys would come to Dallas for advice, as the tough guy personality and their
Johnny probably had one of the worst lives of the greasers, yet he still managed to stay optimistic even after being beaten on an almost daily basis. Johnny would also stand up for people even after being isolated for most his life, as shown when Dallas was harassing Cherry and Marcia. Finally the most loyal of them all, even on his deathbed he stuck by his friends and only allowed them to vist and not his horrible mother that ignored him for most his life. After an abusive childhood most people would give up but Johnny cade stood amongst the Greasers with pride, not
Johnny Cade was forced to kill Bob Sheldon in order to save Ponyboy Curtis’s life. This incident began when Bob Sheldon and four other Socs came to the greasers’s territory (the East side of town) intoxicated. They were upset that Cade and Curtis were associating with their girlfriends. The Socs insulted Cade and Curtis, and Curtis insulted them back. This led to the Socs drowning Curtis’s head in a water fountain.
The witness presented a statement from John Cade that proves the murder was not premeditated and the suspect had no malice aforethought. In Affidavit A, John Cade states, “I had to. They were drowning you, Pony.
Young Johnny Cade was attacked by a juvenile gang, lead by Robert Sheldon (our victim) leaving Mr. Cade scared and enraged. (This is what lead him to carry a six inch switchblade in his pocket at all times. ABout four months later, he and his accomplice, Ponyboy Curtis, began socializing with Robert's girlfriend, Sherry Valance. Robert was indeed intoxicated at the time, so consumed by rage he later attacked Curtis and Cade in a park located in the east side of town. Robert’s ally, David tried to drown Curtis.
Hook: Would you ever convict an innocent boy who acted out of defense of himself and his friend of murdering person who constantly attacks him? The answer should be no. Background information: Known as his “greaser gang’s” pet, Johnny Cade grew up in a household with no role models. Not only was he constantly bullied at home, he was attacked outside as well. Johnny was continuously being assaulted by Socs looking for trouble and he would never fully recover from the trauma in which he has been through.
(pg. 72). Even through this small comment, you can see Ponyboy’s concern for Johnny’s safety. He also shows his worriedness and protectiveness over Johnny on page 102, “Dally’ll be okay I thought. Dallas is always okay.
(54). This means that During the time of the murder 5 socs were drunk and coming straight for them. All were in highschool so we know that they were underage drinkers that night which affected their choices that they made. That is one reason Johnny cade should be charged.
