What Freedom Means To Me
All over the United States freedom is celebrated. Everyone can join in and give thanks to the military veterans who serve for our country. According to google freedom is defined as “The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint”, and although this definition is pretty accurate it leaves out quite a bit. Freedom is so much more than just a right it's a way of life.
The United States of America isn't perfect. In fact it is far from perfect. Many people are displeased with the way our country has and is being run. Our country has many flaws to is but the biggest flaw of all is gender equality. In no way, shape or form am I trying to take away from the heros that fought to earn
Freedom can have many meetings to many people. Freedom to some may mean to be free in a trapped society filled with rules and regulations. Freedom can be revealed to the naked eye in things such as laws, organizations, and even clubs. Freedom to me is living your life however you choose, wherever you choose, and whenever you choose to do so. Angela Davis had once lost those privileges.
Webster Dictionary defines freedom as a “political right”. To me, freedom is much more than that. Freedom gives me and the people of America the right to do anything we want; it allows us to be ourselves no matter where you come from, or who you are. Unfortunately, America has not always been this way; people of different races were treated like trash on the sidewalk. Frederick Douglass had a first-hand experience to this treatment, and he knew what it was like before America allowed everyone to actually be “free”.
According to dictionary.com, freedom means “political or national independents”, but in reality it means much more than that. During the revolutionary war, four thousand four hundred and thirty-five lives were lost in order to gain independence and freedom for all Americans. I believe that freedom means that people can express themselves however they want and that they can make decisions for themselves. I think that this is true because people can choose their religion, have the freedom of speech, and can stand up for what they believe is right. Freedom of religion was part of the First Amendment to the Declaration of Independence, which means that people are able to choose their religion and can freely worship.
Freedom means to do anything one want to do, but one can’t do anything against the law. For example, one can wear whatever clothes he or she wants. One can go to any school he or she desires. I’m happy about my freedom to use the internet. I’m also happy that I can wear whatever I want without being questioned or judged.

Freedom is the ability to love whomever we want, It is when you give without expecting a favor, It is the power to forgive when you've been mistaken, it is the capability to do right without being proud of it. To me Freedom is America, Freedom is the 13 horizontal stripes and the 50 stars waving in the wind, and finally Freedom is for everyone to be equal, yet different in his or her own way. Freedom to me is America, as simple as that. On July 4th, 1776 America gained freedom from Great Britain, for this is one of the most important dates in American history.
In America I believe in Freedom. Freedom means that anyone in America has the right to act, speak, or think however they want without restraint. Freedom to me means that I can do whatever I want or anyone, but there needs to be a limit on freedom. People in the World today think they have a lot of freedom to do stuff that they can’t and that is what I am going to talk to you about.
What Freedom Means to Me By Yascha Day What freedom means to me is that I can roam the streets freely and happily. I think that I can be in the USA without the fear of losing my freedom and being sold into slavery like they did even a couple hundred years ago. I am glad for my freedom and safety.
Freedom is the ability to do whatever one wants without restraint. Many people in our country take freedom for granted, while many suffer from the lack of freedom in other countries. Freedom is when you choose all of your actions, which is what was meant for everyone. Making choices of your own is how you learn and grow. When you are in a position without freedom, somebody withholds it.
Never in my life have I been asked this question but after reading the first week’s lectures, it is becoming clear to me. Liberty means I am not a slave, I am free. Liberty means I can make my own decisions, express my points of view, beliefs and opinion. My definition of slavery is simply put as: personal property or belonging to someone else. Liberty means I am not a slave of the government
Many people use the word “free” but they don’t know the true meaning of being “free”. The meaning of “being free” is enjoying the personal rights and the liberty that your country gives, different countries have different rules and some don’t even have much freedom or none at all of their citizens. Some examples of being “free” is having the right to have an education, and having the right to speak up for what you believe in. A story that I have read that connects with the statement free is, “Speech at the United Nations” by, Malala Yousafzai. This story connects with the word free because Malala wanted to have an education but where she lives women are not allowed to have an education or there will be consequences, Malala stood up for herself
Freedom means the power or right to act, speak, or think without restraint, and the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. Freedom is the correction to do what he/she wants, live life, and eat what he/she wants. How do we live free? We live free by not judging other people’s freedom rights. Everyone has their own rights.
Freedom means being able to be friends regardless of the race. Doing what I want to do without being punished. It also means I am free to practice my religion I want to worship. I can give thanks to the soldiers that fought for my freedom when I see them. I can also celebrate holidays with my family.
Patriot’s Pen “What Freedom Means to Me” I take freedom as a strong subject. I take it strongly because this country has gone through so much relating to the subject, such as the Revolutionary War. Many black people have fought for their freedom. If you would've ever thought to yourself what freedom meant, a thousand thoughts would rush to your head about racism and physical/mental abuse. In my opinion what freedom means to me is perspective, independence, and most of all respect for yourself and to others.
