Being a leader involves many different characteristics. A leader must set the example for all others in the group, because if they are to show up late to practice, there isn’t a reason that any of the other members should not do the same. A leader must take risks for the benefit of the group as well as make sacrifices for it. Becoming the leader of the group requires for them to be the most dedicated. They must work harder and not be afraid to lead the group. A leader must be willing and ready to not only give orders but receive them. The group cannot thrive with a leader who does not adore what they do. The leader must be devoted and excited about what they do. A leader can have respect from every single member of the group but without the …show more content…
I constantly strive to be the best that I know I can be and aim beyond. If I am given the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership qualities, I hope to prove to myself, my coach, and my teammates that I have what it takes. Despite my past errors this past few years, I am a wiser and stronger person. Arguably because of them. It can be hard to accept the past, but it cannot be changed. Sadly I can’t go back and manipulate things to the way I wished them to happen, but what I can do change the future. Although, I know that I will make more mistakes and have some bad days, as long as, I let those things go, I know I will be the best I can be so I can help the team to the best of my ability. I try not to regret the things that have happened to me in my life, whether it is making a bad choice, saying the wrong thing, not doing something I should have done, or something that happened to me. These things have given me the knowledge I have today. I learn and grow with each choice I make. As a result of the events, I believe that I have the understanding, knowledge, and the experience that a good leader must
Follow the leader, a.k.a. do what the first person does and don’t do it wrong or you are out. This becomes burnt into children’s minds as what they think leadership is and has become what many people think it must be. Contrarily, a flourishing leader is one who listens. Who takes all member’s ideas into consideration, makes sure all are heard, and keeps a group in order while still taking into account what the group wants.
There are many qualities that good leaders must possess in order to be able to maintain a group united and working together, whether it is a sports or any academic team or club. For example; football/volleyball, U.I.L/ National Honor Society, or even Spanish/Interact club. Leaders must be willing to pass on a positive influence and know when to take charge. They must begin to be role models to those they associate with on a daily basis.
Eyes are watching me. Boring into my skin as cold metal slides across my neck and along my shoulder. Rivers of blood rush through my veins like an electrical current as my palms become more sweaty. I hear a soft gasp while reaching back to patiently guide the metal around my arm, back to the front of my neck. Smiling, I set up for my last trick while glancing at the audience of wide-eyed color guard members.
During times of war, people on the front the line look to one person. One person they put their lives in, a person to give an inspirational speech when their down. That one person is known as a leader. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the stranded boys know that they need a leader; someone to make the decision to help them get rescued. Before that, a leader is someone that isn’t a boss.
Personal Statement 1) As an individual I myself had trouble finding the inner leader I have within. Towards the end of my eighth grade year I was given the opportunity to learn about a program called C5LA. After going through the process of the application I was selected for an interview, and ended with a spot in the program. This program focuses on helping students become leaders. This is where I learned everything I know, as well as where I’ve experienced different leadership roles.
Acquiring leadership skills along with a strong character and the sense to serve others is vital. A leader should be resourceful, dependable, selfless, and a good problem solver. I have led in many ways- inside and outside of school. Last year as a tenth grader, I was class secretary for Class Council.
Throughout my life, I have always felt a call to serve others. Whether in an athletic setting, academic classroom, or one of my many other pursuits, I often find myself taking on a leadership role. No matter what setting might be, I call upon certain leadership traits that have helped me be successful thus far in life. As a leader, I set goals that benefit the group in the long run while insuring that each individual reaches their full potential in best serving the group. I do this by making sure each person knows that they can contribute something beneficial to the group and that all of these persons can help in a way that utilizes their own talents.
What makes a leader? I believe a leader to be intelligent ,tough, and has the determination to achieve a goal. Having certain skills will have an impact on you being a trustable leader. Being selfless and caring are also characteristics. Malcolm X his birth name Malcolm Little is a fine a example of a leader and has most of these leadership qualities.
Strong, independent, brave, all part of being a leader. Being a leader is defined as “leading a group or person” in the dictionary (“Dictionary”). Being a leader is a very important task. It’s like putting a lot of pressure on your shoulders. You have to have the ability lead and encourage others.
Winston and Patterson (2006) integrative definition of leadership is an excellent definition of leadership. Thus, Hitler also fits the definition only the most important ingredient is missing from Hitler leadership, which would be the presence of the Lord. There as been an enormous amount of information on the definition of leadership however, Bass (1990) argues that Leadership has been the focus of group processes, as a personality attribute, as the art of inducing compliance, as an exercise of influence, as a kind of act, as a form of persuasion, as a power relation, as an instrument in the attainment of goals, as an effect of nitration, as a differentiated role, and as the initiation of structure (20).
A group of people needs a leader to keep order. Whether this leader would be good or bad, they are who the group revolves around. A good leader must keep order and lead their group to success. Keep in mind that no leaders are perfect. Each will have their strengths and weaknesses.
Leaders are what keep the world in an orderly fashion, without them, the world would be a much more chaotic place. Leaders help keep people and thing organized, while keeping their own work organized as well. Being a leader means having responsibilities and to stay on track, a leader needs good qualities. Some good qualities of a leader can include good listening, focus, and mental strength. These attributes are visible in the superhero Superman.
As mentioned above, these leaders must pay close attention to the needs and wants of their subordinates. They must also be active in making their servants feel as happy as possible at all times and never letting them struggle through something on their
There are many traits that are needed to be applied when being a leader. Traits including confidence, courage, positivity, and many more are needed in order to be considered a good leader. A leader also needs to spread a positive message to people. They need to be someone who can be responsible and trusted by a large group of people. This generation and generations to come, learn from the previous leaders, as to not make their mistakes.
A leader must encourage his team to be the best people they can be, and then show them how to use their strengths to help the team, if he wants to be successful. He must believe that the people on his team can be better and push the members toward that. Sometimes this will involve “tough love”. Success is about the leader pushing people to be the best version of themselves, and if the leader finds that “tough love” is the most effective, then that is what he is going to use. Being a leader is about being for the whole team, but urging each member to being for the team as well.
