Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. were both born 120 years apart. They were also killed ten days apart in the same month, years apart of course. Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. were one of the biggest influences on Slavery and Civil Rights. As well as being great leaders during their times. Both of these men were similar, but also had their differences. They had accomplished many things in their life times. Abraham Lincoln is a well known man, for his presidency and influence in Slavery. Lincoln was born on February twelfth, 1809, in Hardin County, Kentucky. His siblings were Sarah Lincoln and Thomas Lincoln Jr, named after his father. His parents were Nancy Lincoln and Thomas Lincoln. Nancy was taken by a disease called Milk disease, killing her aunt and uncle as well. A while after Nancy’s death Thomas re-married to Sarah Bush Johnston, bringing in four more spoiled children into the family. As Abraham Lincoln went to begin his new life he met Mary Todd, they married on November fourth, 1842. A few years later he ran and was elected into the United States Congress. Years later in 1860 Abraham Lincoln had run for the presidential election and won. Becoming the 16th president of the United States (“Abraham Lincoln,” 1998). Rebellion soon broke out after his inauguration, marking the beginning of the Civil War. January 1st, 1863, is the day in which Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that all slaves in the rebellious Confederate
