Adam Walsh was the first born of the host of America’s Most Wanted, John Walsh. He disappeared from a Sears store in Hollywood, Florida in 1981 when his mother left him at a videogame display to find and purchase an item. John emphasizes in his book Tears of Rage, that this kind of thing did not happen in the ‘80s and that the police simply did not know how to handle it. At this time, our criminal justice system was just starting to develop. There was no DNA testing, many agencies were full of corruption, and the FBI’s uniform crime reporting service (UCR) did not even contain kidnapping. For two hours, John’s wife Revé searched the department store and pleaded the sales clerks to help her find her son. Later, the police were notified and

It was a summer Sunday afternoon in 1982, a partially clothed body discovered floating in the river, becoming a gruesome welcome to a serial killer’s trail (McCarthy & Thornburgh, 2002, p. 1). Next to this woman’s body was a naked 17-year-old girl who was strangled in the same manner as the first (McCarthy & Thornburgh, 2002, p. 1). The horrific discovery of these two women, Marcia Chapman and Cynthia Hinds, will become the beginning of a trail of serial murders. As murders mounted, the killer would be identified as ‘The Green River Killer” because his identity would remain unknown for 19 years. In 2001 detectives were able to use a new technology that tested DNA samples (McCarthy & Thornburgh, 2002, p. 8).

Robert Piest disappeared on December 11, 1978 from Des Plaines pharmacy where he worked after school. Just before his disappearance he told his co-worked that he was going to a house down the street to talk to “some contractor” about a job. Gacy had been at the pharmacy that night discussing to the owner about a remodeling job. When police questioned Gacy about the disappearance he denied talking to Piest, but Des Plaines police did what Chicago failed to do and check Gacy’s record, discovering that he had served time for sodomy. Police managed to get a warrant to check Gacy’s house, they came across some suspicious items but no trace of any bodies.
On the evening of May 5, 1993, in West Memphis Arkansa three eight year old, second grade boys named Christopher Byers, Stevie Branch and Michael Moore were last seen alive during the evening in their neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. By nightfall around 9:30 p.m. all of the parents of the three missing boys called the police station about their boys who never returned home. On the following morning of May 6, 1993, police searched for the three young boys in the Robin Hood Woods which is located right next to the neighborhood where all three eight year olds were last seen alive. Within the Robin Hood Woods there is a drainage system ditch that runs through the area. The Devoted A clever and enthralling, yet psychotic serial killer connects with other aspiring killers while incarcerated. Ten years ago, is when this same man, Laurence Kitterman, got caught for his wrong doings by former FBI agent, Keith Reynolds. Everything suddenly went downhill when this death row convict escaped from prison. Devious minded, he strikes again, killing his guards right before getting executed.
Concerns about the possibility of alerting the subject led the police to conduct a quiet but intensive background investigation on Rader. The task force conceived a unique approach to identify Dennis Rader as the primary suspect using DNA from one of his two adult children. The task force obtained a subpoena for his daughter?s medical records and as a result, a biological sample was located for DNA comparison. On February 22, 2005, the sample taken to the KBI (Kansas Bureau of Investigation) lab for DNA analysis confirmed that BTK was indeed the biological father of Rader?s daughter.

The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) Program was established in 1930 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This program allows for the reporting of crime statistics across the United States. Law enforcement, including city, county, state, tribal, and university agencies send information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation so that crime data can be compiled. Uniform crime reports provide agencies with standard classifications and definitions of crimes. This makes it easier for agencies to send the information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
I began my journey in the carrier of law enforcement at the young age of fourteen years old. At this age I was not a sworn law enforcement officer, but I was a police explorer with the Winston-Salem Police Department. This program is associated with the Boy Scout program and I remained in this program until the age of eighteen years old. During the police explorer program, I was able to perform ride-a-longs with law enforcement officers and work closely with the Winston-Salem Police Department during different events. This confirmed for me that I truly wish to become a law enforcement officer.

The judge allowing crucial evidence of two hairs found in Balthazar’s shirt pocket would harm Williams’s claim of innocents (Bardsley, 1981). FBI’s DNA laboratory in Quantico, Virginia confirmed the scalp hairs were the same DNA, as William’s own hair (Bardsley, 1981). Yet the FBI concluded that the DNA test turned out inadequate (Deadman, 1982). It was noted also that the only way to be absolute they would have to use nucleic DNA testing which consist of paternal lineage (Deadman, 1982). Investigating the cases of reported missing children in Atlanta would become a daunting task for local police requiring a special Atlanta Police Task Force to detect and stop the homicides (Bardsley,
