Cyntoia Brown, a 16 year old girl, convicted of the murder of Johnny Michael Allen in 2004. Now serving a 51 year sentence in a womens prison in Tennessee. Cyntoia Brown spent the rest of her teenage years in prison and will spend most of her adult life in there as well. Cynotia Brown was born to a child herself. Her biological mother Gina, only 16 when she gave birth to Cyntoia. When Gina found out she was pregnant it wasn't a reality to her, she didn't understand it, a child herself how would she raise one. When Gina was 8 months pregnant she got hooked on drugs and alcohol to help cope with the reality that she, just a kid herself, was about to have one. Gina got into prostitution to pay for her habits. When Cyntoia was born she was most …show more content…
At his home she states that she felt threated and thought he was going to kill her so she pulled a gun on him and shot him. Childhood years are most important for building a stable psychological state of mind, so should Cyntoia been charged as an adult and made to spend the rest of her life in a womens prison? Did she recieve a fair trial? Were any of her rights violated? Should the Judge take into consideration the mitigating factors, such as her rough childhood? I feel Cyntoia should not have been tried as an adult, yes she comitted murder but to throw her into a womens prinson with a life sentence is not giving this child a fair shot at life. No, killing another person is not fair or just. I think she receive a fair trial for what it was it but it should of been in juvenile court instead of adult court. I do think the life Cyntoia led up to this point effected her mind and her judgement. We have all been in a situation where we are looking for some sort of attention, we know the power that can hold over someone especially someone of a weak mind. We all know someone who has been in relationships they felt they couldn't get out of for one reason or another. It's all a mental game, one that I feel Cyntoia lost to. I imagine this girl, who had been beaten and chocked nearly to death by a man who lead her to believe he cared about her, feared for …show more content…
While there I think they should have her under psych evaluations and counsiling. At the age of 19 she should be reevaluated for the crime. Ask psycologist to evaluate her to see if her mind set is different. She is she shows remorse. Release her into the care and custody of her adopted parents so they can monitor her behavior. If at that point they feel she is still a treat to others then have her go in front of an adult court. I think that in some cases our youth need to be given better oppurtunities and choices. Understand that not all murder cases that envolve juveniles should be handled this way, example a child who didn't grow up in these circumstances and just killing for the thrill. Each case should be handled different but I feel in this case this child still had a chance at a normal life if only given the
Would you believe that the mastermind of three murders could be out of jail in just eight years? Do you think it is fair that the other person involved with the murders was sentenced to life in jail and will only be eligible for parole after serving 25 years? Would it change your mind after knowing that the mastermind is just an 12-year-old? Jasmine Richardson was the 13 year old behind this terrible murder. Most wouldn’t believe someone that young could come up and go through with something that terrible.
Cyntoia did not seem to have a normal person's mind set or outlook on life she did not show remorse towards her crime even knowing that John was not reaching for a gun. Further into Cyntoia's case it was revealed that she did not have a true understanding of her right to remain silent and if she had known this she may not have confessed in the way that she did. With a lawyer there to advise her in her confession i do not believe that cyntoia's case would have been perceived the way it was. This case has recently went viral on social media when artist Rihanna tweeted about Cyntoia's case nearly ten years after she was convicted. Many A-list celebrities have been protesting for her release and petitions have been started for her sentence to be cut short and let Cyntoia free.
Crawford’s attorney, I do agree that she made some bad decisions in her life. On the other hand, while in prison she received her college degree and did some good deeds, she was a model prisoner. I would argue that this case is an injustice in the judicial system. Both Ms. Crawford and Ms. Kennon crimes were similar yet Ms. Kennon only received 48 year sentence, but got paroled after only servicing 14 years and since then received an award for developing a program while she was in prison. Ms. Crawford on the other hand received a 70 year sentence.
To each of you responsible for this child’s sentence I hope to God you don’t have children because this could be your daughter being punished for punishing already!”A petition was started to urge Governor Bill Haslam to grant Brown clemency. As of Sunday afternoon, more than 379,000 people have signed it. Attorney Charles Bone, who began working for Brown pro bono after watching Birman’s film, told NBC that the young woman is “shocked and surprised” that celebrities are rallying behind her, and is “appreciative” of their support. “This is meaningful not to Cyntoia, but to the cause of sex trafficking and sex slavery and juvenile justice,” Bone said. He said that he and a team of lawyers are still fighting for another trial, in which Bone believes Brown would be “charged with second-degree murder at the most.
Life Sentence: Nathan Ybanez On the night of June 5,1996 in Highlands, Colorado, 15-year-old Nathan Ybanez and his friend, Erik Jensen, bludgeoned and strangled 43-year-old Julie Ybanez after being told that he was being shipped off to a Missouri Military school. The next day a police officer found Nathan in a deserted park with his mother’s corpse. Both Ybanez and Jensen were both charged with first degree murder and sentence to life without parole in the year 2000. Currently Nathan is 35 years old, the latest heard of him was in July 2013, he is still in the process of repealing his case, but he continues to voice out his opinion using the outlet known as YouTube.
Argue your position (should she or should she not have faced prosecution for her role in the crimes?) I don’t believe that this deal should have been taken. The evidence against him was so strong that no doubt he was going to be convicted and sentenced to the maximum penalty. I feel that his daughter was an intergral part of these crimes.
The world was memorized in 2011, when Casey Anthony got off on charges after killing her own 2 year old child. Leading up to the day of the crime, no one could expect Casey to do anything this horrific. So why would she do it? Casey Anthony was born in Warren, Ohio, on March 19, 1986. Casey’s parents , George and Cindy Anthony, described Casey as a happy, outgoing child.
She did not have parents who really cared for her when she was younger, so she always had to make the best of a bad situation. Jeanette feels her childhood turned out the way it did because of how she was raised. She feels that “No child is born a delinquent. They only became that way if nobody loved them when they were kids.” (Walls 83).
If Teresa was more confident in herself, she would have told Victor how she feels about all of this. When it comes to establishing identity, Teresa needs to realize that her identity is what is most important. She cannot follow someone else and keep her identity hiding forever. That will not lead her to the path she thinks it will. Teresa's struggle as an adolescent female demonstrates how other adolescent females are led to believe that they cannot take an initiative.
Children should be treated, in the eyes of the law, the same as adults for crimes. Jessica Reaves wrote an article on March 12, 2012; Reaves’ article titled “Should the Law Treat Kids and Adults Differently?” Reaves explores the idea of juvenile committed crimes. Although just children, they are getting harsh punishments. People will argue the fact that these crimes were committed by a child.
Not only was the murder she commited on Travis Alexander a first-degree murder, it was cruel in the fact that she stabbed him a dozen times, shot him, and after all that happened she ended up taking pictures of the dead body. Not only is the murder a first degree murder just the fact that she kept changing her statement to make the jury feel some sympathy towards her shows really how much she should really receive the death penalty. There is the counterargument of saying it was “accidental” or “self-defense” according to certain people which one shot, 12 knife wounds doesn't seem accidental and planned out because of her taking the pictures
Carl-Lee Hailey is on trial for the murder of the two rapists who raped his daughter Tonya Hailey who was only 10 years of age. There is no doubt that Carl-Lee Hailey did shoot the two rapists and I believe that he should be convicted. His ten year old daughter Tonya was viciously brutalized by two white men Pete and Billy Ray. They abducted , raped and beat Tonya.
Crimes are happening around us whether we pay attention to them or not. Those crimes as dangerous as murder are committed by all ages but should younger criminal in their juvenile age received the same punishment as older criminals. On June 25, 2012, the Supreme Court ruled that juveniles committed murder could not be sentenced to life in prison because it violates the Eighth Amendment.(On-Demand Writing Assignment Juvenile Justice) Advocates on the concurring side believes that mandatory life in prison is wrong and should be abolish. However, the dissenting side believe that keeping the there should be a life in prison punishment for juvenile who commit heinous crime regardless of their age.
Research question: you wonder why she could commit to these awful times. I wanted to find out how she killed all these people and what she was thinking. Why she put the body parts in her teacakes and soap? Synopsis: leonarda cianciulli the deadly soap maker of Correggio. Was the worst female serial killer there was.
