Jonbenét Ramsey: The Murder of a Beauty Queen The spine chilling scream around two A.M. woke up the neighbors (Newton D22) A ransom is found for the girls safe return (A&E B8) That just so happen to be her own fathers bonus for 1996, 118,000. A young pageant queen by the name of Jonbenét Ramsey (JB A5) was found strangled to death (A1) in her own homes basement (A2) with no sign of a killer or a sign of entry (A&E B12)… Main evidence is placed on forensics to seek out whoever slayed the girl, reliance on possible semen and blood traces on the scene to match a killer (Verrengia E1). The crime scene is slowly getting more and more contaminated, family as well as friends travelling through the home, the father moving the body to the living, …show more content…
The main valid evidence that was found at the crime scene was the cord wrapped around the young girl’s neck, which was the definite cause of her death (JB A1). By the autopsy, Jonbenét had been struck in the back of the head with a heavy object, which was never recovered from the scene. Although with the first examination, it was shown that Jonbenét had been sexually molested (Newton D24). With a second examination, it had shown that Jonbenét wasn’t sexually molested but just wiped or scraped hard (A&E B6). Contradicting the original evidence of pubic hair (Newton D23), vaginal abrasions (D24), unidentified DNA found under her nails (D27), and possible semen traces (D26). The Jonbenét case had many odd details that causes issues for the cops (D15), although with the deadline passing, Patsy seemed relatively calm, her hair as well her makeup were done (D16). Another odd detail from the case was that Patsy had changed her ransom story many times, the first one being that she found the note in Jonbenét’s empty bed (D19). Patsy enjoyed fixing up her home, especially when it came to painting, which brought the spotlight on Patsy, since the paint brush that was used as garrote to tighten the cord (D12). Later into investigating the scene, a bowl of pineapple was found spilled all over the floor, which lined up with the traces of …show more content…
The parents immediately had a dark cloud of suspicion over them, with them being the only ones with access to the crime scene. Patsy claimed to have awakened that morning to finding an empty bed with the ransom note on it, however she later changed the story to she had found the ransom note on her way for coffee (Newton D20). Strange enough, the note was lengthy (D1), and written on paper that was found in the home, with Patsy’s name as the stationary (D5). With the note being found, the note had stated that if anyone were brought into the so called kidnapping, Jonbenét would die (D2). Patsy told many people, friends, family, and the police, which made it strange for the police to think that the mother had no idea what was going on because she risked her own daughter’s life by telling, and having friends and family search the home so publically. The ransom was oddly specific, demanding $118,000, which just happened to be John’s bonus for 1996 (D3), as well as the author switching between “I”, “me”, and “us” which made it seem like the author was unsure of what they were trying to write, also depicting that there was more than one author (D4). Within a few hours, the deadline that the ransom note stated had passed (D7), and Jonbenét hadn’t been found nor returned, Patsy, seemed way to calm for the situation (D8) Everything pointed to the parents especially since there was no trace of entrance,
New DNA could lead to more clues in the investigation, Biography stated this, “In July 2008, new "touch DNA" technology seemed to exonerate all members of JonBenét’s family in the 1996 killing,” ("JonBenét Ramsey"). With the new technology, we have today DNA can be taken and tested in a couple days of a crime, it is also very reliable. Not to mention all the pressure put on the parents of the family, finding DNA other than their families was a relief. The DNA found led police away from the family, CNN Library stated,“Early suspicion fell on her parents, but they were exonerated after DNA at the scene was found to belong to a male unrelated to the Ramsey family,” ("JonBenet Ramsey"). Since the DNA did not match to any of the family members, they now have to find who actually committed the crime.
JonBenet was found murdered in her parents' house in Boulder, Colorado, on December 26, 1996. She was only six years old. John and Patsy (the parents of Jonbenet) put her to bed the night of December 25th, 1996. When Patsy woke up the next morning, she noticed a note on the
Also, the handwriting was found to definitely not be his. As for the raping the object that was used was said to be very small; like the size of the end of a paintbrush (which was never found). Therefore I don’t think John murdered Jonbenet. Evaluation - Burke Ramsey: I don’t think Burke committed the crime either. Even though his behavior was odd.
For example, they found cut up pineapples with Burke's fingerprints on it. On the autopsy performed on JonBenet, it showed that she has previously eaten pineapples before the time of her death. Burke, JonBenet's brother, claims he never even came near pineapple. Another piece of evidence that was found was blood on JonBenet's underwear. A DNA sample of the blood was extracted and tested.
First is that an intruder broke into their home, wrote the note, and killed JonBenét. Next is the mother Patsy, who might have had a motive of jealousy from the attention her daughter received, and thus killed her and had John help cover it up. Lastly, Burke may have unintentionally murdered his sister by hitting her with a flashlight after she took his food and ran, but John and Patsy staged it to be as if someone else had kidnapped and murdered her. If the crime scene had not been contaminated, if family and friends spoke to the police further, and if Burke would have spoken in depth about his childhood relationship with his sister – the investigation may have had further evidence to go upon. Nonetheless, the Boulder County attorney declared on October 13th, 1999 that there was not enough sufficient evidence to declare anyone as the culprit.
The investigation into JonBenet’s murder continued for more
In over 20 years no one has been able to say exactly who killed JonBenet, why she was killed, or what happened between the last time she was seen, the night of December 25 and the next afternoon when she was found in her basement. With the research collected there is a great certainty that her father killed her and her mother helped to cover it up. Her family has been hit with questions about JonBenet and theories from all sides with very little evidence to link them to it but with an analysis of the crime and the family that link has been found. you will lead down the dark road of what happened in the early hours of December 26, 1996, and put pieces together about how the parents of such an “adoring” family could have killed JonBenet and gotten
The autopsy revealed JonBenét was strangled with a “garrote made from a tweed cord” (####). Also, JonBenét had a fractured skull which the Medical Examiner believed a broken paintbrush handle was the item that caused the injury. The garrote was tied in a manner where the person who did so had an advanced knowledge of knots. The Medical Examiner did believe there was a possibility JonBenét was sexually assaulted; however, no evidence of rape was found. Before JonBenét death she had eaten a pineapple.
A bonechilling, mystery, murder took place in a peaceful/small town in Boulder, Colorado, taken place on Christmas night shook the nation. Beauty queen, pageant winner, adorable, innocent JonBenet Ramsey was killed in the family home on the night of December 25th, 1996. Jonbenet was found with a device around her neck that straggled her, stun gun marks on her left side of her body, hands tied above her head, and tape over her mouth. Later autopsies found that the girl was bashed over her head leaving an 8 ½ inch fracture. Then found later on that Jonbenet was sexually assaulted.
Detectives found DNA in her underwear that she was wearing that night. She had a cracked skull when she was found dead. The weapon that was used to kill Jon Benet was a flashlight because it matches perfect to her wonf on her skull. The time Jon Benet was killed was at early in the morning.
JonBenet Ramsey who was a young loving beauty queen of Colorado, who’s live was taken way too early. JonBenet was murdered in her home in Boulder Colorado on December 26, 1996 at the age of six. After completing my research, I was able to make a prediction of who I believed murdered the incent child, and it did not take much research to see the mistakes made by the Boulder Police Department. The Boulder Police Department made numerous mistakes in the JonBenet Ramsey case.
Under the window was a briefcase, it could have been used as a step. The last piece of evidence found in this room was palmprints on the door but there were no prints on the knob. There are two more pieces of evidence in this case, DNA and the ransom note. DNA was found in JonBenet’s clothing and under her nails. It was male DNA but it did not match any friends or family.
The girls body however was found in the basement later that afternoon. JonBenet’s skull had been fractured, she had been sexually assaulted, she was strangled with a garrote made from one of patsy’s paintbrushes. The police suspected that the ransom note had been written by Patsy and the ransom note and the appearance of the child’s body had been staged by her parents in order to cover up the crime. Apparently JonBenet's official cause of death was asphyxia a by strangulation. Her death was classified as
Also, when the murder of Jonbenet first came out Karr said in an email that the death was an accident, but it was clearly shown that it was not an accident. There have also been other clues that do not seem to add to this case. Mr. Karr claimed that he had assaulted the little girl but there was no evidence shown on her body that he could have done that to her. Also, on Christmas of that year Karr’s family stated that he was either in Georgia or Alabama nowhere near the site of the death of Jonbenet(“Why would John”).
When John Ramsey and his neighbor Fleet White went around the area to see if JonBenet was hiding somewhere, the first place John went was straight to the basement. Which just so happened to be where JonBenet’s body was found, so that right there raised a huge red flag. The reason for that was because by the time Mr. Ramsey had gone downstairs to the basement, it had been a few hours from when everything had started and mysteriously he knew exactly where she would be in the basement? The biggest part of it all was after Mr. Ramsey had found JonBenet, instead of calling for the detectives who were all over his home; he immediately picked JonBenet off the ground and took the duct tape off her mouth. After John Ramsey touched JonBenet, that entire murder scene was now tampered with which makes anything that was found inaccurate seeing how there is now other fingerprints on the body.
