I. Theoretical part, anger in literature Anger as a term has two separate meanings; the psychological and the literal one. Concerning the literal meaning, it has multiple definitions, and those definitions differ from one person to another. In her book, the artistry of Anger, Linda M Grasso, defines anger in different words; “Anger is the emotion which accompanies the first steps toward the libration action “(Grasso 1). Anger also is the response to one’s lived realities of the historical moments and events, because there is a relationship between feelings and the material world in which feelings are experienced (Grasso 8). In other words, it is a way of communication between people which delivers important information about …show more content…
The reason why anger is expressed is that man seeks attention, respect, equal rights, and freedom. On the other hand, anger is the external response to man’s powerlessness, or to the social suppressions and the higher forces. The dilemma here is that man’s inability – on the personal level and the social level – to protect the principles and attain justice. In a book named working women by Nanneke Redclift, there is another definition of anger , but as a movement from their perspective ; when the idea of change comes to the mind of people or the nation , they begin to perceive another view of the world which conflicts with their old one (Redclift 238). This movement originally emerged in Britain in the late 1950s. Michelene wander, in his book Drama today, draws a map or a timeline for the history of British Drama, and the causes behind the emergence of anger in literature. In 1960s, a new wave of feminism appeared as a result of abandoning the women as the center of her …show more content…
Nonetheless, new techniques had been inserted in plays ; involving irony as a new method to show contrast or the entire opposite in the real life ; for example : the irony between the washing machines and the nuclear bombs. Also using the verbal irony or the situational irony to the point out specific thing or figure in the real life ( Nicoll 250 ) . Another technique had been found in dramas called Alienation, this was intended by the writers to force audience to think critically beyond the obvious and the clear meaning. Concerning the plot in plays , dramatists abandoned the traditional plot or the well – made play , and preferred to use the one – act play. They also used non – chronological order or the play which lack the unity in its elements – concerning the stage – such as: the death of the salesman by Aurther miller , and the tragedy of Nan by John Masefield ( Nicoll 248 ). Plays contained different genres : The prose , the realistic , the tragedy , and the instructional plays. Most of them talked about the personal relationship of the characters. The imaginative , the symbolic , and the realistic elements are all co – exited together ( Nicoll 251 - 253

On the tenth anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Caesar Chavez, a civil rights leader and labor union organizer, published an article in a religious magazine stating that nonviolence and violent resistance are two different pathways and argues that nonviolence is more powerful than violence. Chavez develops this claim by referring to the Civil Rights Movement and how King exampled the power of nonviolence, inspiring the farm workers' movement and conveying this belief by comparing nonviolence and violence, using sober diction, his connotation, and as well as appealing to the audience through ethos and pathos throughout his article. Chavez's purpose is to reason why nonviolence is the only answer that is right and
Anger can at times be creative. One writes a great poem, a great symphony. One does something special for the sake of humanity because one is angry at the injustice that one witnesses. But indifference is never creative. Even hatred at times may elicit a response.
Anger is a memory never forgotten. You only tame it”.
When someone is angry they’re not really themselves and any of their actions or words may be done in a fit of rage. This unpredictable aspect of anger could hurt someone else unintentionally resulting in
Oxford dictionary defines the word “play” in relation to theatre as “a dramatic composition which is represented or performed in a theatrical performance or film” . Also known as drama, a play is principally meant to be performed on stage rather than be read as it brings a more active form of presentation. It also “provides an extra dimension of dynamism as the readers can visualise the characters enacting the dialogue and action of the play while the audience can see the actors perform live on stage” (Tutorial notes-Unit 1, 2017). As a short story or novel, a play especially tragedy, according to Aristotle (384-322 BC) contained six vital elements. It includes (in order of importance)

Anger is a common disease possessed by many humans. How people deal with anger is what makes them different. Some, the second they are confronted, act out violently. Some hold it in until they cannot possibly take anymore, then explode. Some, let other people act out for them.
“Marcel Oms describes this action in term of aggression against bourgeois perceptions of reality.” (1995, p. 77) This action could be interpreted as a uncontrollable emotion, possibly when the generational anger has transitioned to
Anger is an emotion in which an individual becomes fulfilled with hatred and energy that has a larger impact than guiltiness. The strong emotion of anger can cause an individual to react to different situations in different ways. For instance, in To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem shows anger and hatred when he loses his temper to when Mrs. Dubose insults Atticus. He destroys her camellia bushes with a baton. Jem’s rage is displayed when Scout describes his actions, “Jem snatched my baton and ran flailing wildly up into the steps into Mrs. Dubose’s front yard, forgetting everything Atticus had said, forgetting she packed a pistol under her shawls, forgetting that if Mrs. Dubose missed, her girl Jesse probably wouldn’t.

In William Shakespeare's play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the use of multiple literary devices makes the play interesting. Dramatic irony, which is when the audience knows more than the characters, occurs numerous times throughout the play and grabs the attention of the audience. Soliloquies, which are lengthy speeches by a character to project their thoughts and emotions to the audience, this allows the audience to be more attentive. Allusions are references by characters to well-known places, events from myths or other literature that cause the audience to be absorbed into the play. After reading this marvelous play, it is obvious that Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, allusions, and soliloquies all written in blank verse to grasp the undivided attention of the audience.
These are so significant to understanding the work, that a reader of this script can recognize them, even if he or she has never seen a production of A Doll’s House. This story could not be conveyed properly without including the significant examples of spectacle in a production. According to Aristotle, there are six elements of drama. In simplest terms, they are referred to as plot, character, diction, music, thought, and spectacle.
“Life is a mixing of all kind of things: comedy and tragedy going together” (Alejandro Jodorowsky). Comedy and tragedy have been two popular forms of entertainment for people throughout the ages. From Greek performances to contemporary plays, the art of theatre is well and thriving. While the styles of playwrights and the way theatre is experienced changes through time, the messages these plays gaves have more or less stayed the same. Drama can, for the most part, be classified as either tragedy or comedy.
