The question of morality in a criminal case has always been a topic of concern. A question arises when considering the following; does a good cause justify a serious crime? In John Brown’s case, he uses the abolitionist’s cause to justify the murder of several men. Though his intentions were good, and his cause was mighty, it’s not morally sound to murder people. Many would argue that he was a hero, that fighting for the end of slavery in the manner he did was an act of bravery. However, radicalism of any variety is still dangerous. Though he was well-meaning, John Brown’s actions were not only inexcusable, but has the potential to reflect negatively on the abolitionist cause.
Recently, a named Sgt. Jonathan Whaley preformed a heroic action to reunite a lost animal with its owner. The Alabama officer drove Kai, the lost animal, 770 miles to reunite the animal with its family. The dog’s owner, McKenzie Catron, was killed in a tragic accident, and St. Whaley was the first to arrive as the scene of the accident. The officer learned that a dog was involved, and rescued the animal before bringing him home.

According to the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Department of Health Professions, Kateresea L. Ford L.P.C. was convicted of a felony due to health care fraud. She was convicted of one count of health care fraud, and the forfeiture allegation of related property. This is a recent case, and she was convicted in July 2015. After being convicted, she was in jail for two months from July 2015 until September 2015, and is now on probation for three years. She is required to pay $81,000 in restitution, and since she was convicted of a felony her license was suspended. The suspension of her license is automatic when a licensed professional is convicted of a felony. She has the opportunity to get her license back, but would have to petition the board of counseling for reinstatement.
People have different views on what success really means. Some say success is based on money or fame. If you have a lot of money or fame you're "definitely" successful. Others say success is based on your fulfillment and overall happiness in your life. Alfred Brooks, the protagonist in the novel The Contender by Robert Lypsite, has many friends, family, and supporters. Alfred also has almost no financial gain through boxing, but he's been inspired to work hard. Lastly, Alfred is very happy with his life even after his boxing career fails. On the other hand, Midge Kelly, the main character in the film "Champion," is the polar opposite of Alfred. Midge loses his friends, family, and supporters. Also, Midge is rich, but he dies alone and unhappy. At the end of the novel, Alfred Brooks is more successful than Midge Kelly is at the end of the movie.
Decisions made in the 1850s ultimately decided the United States fate. From the election of 1856 to the Dred Scott case, the nation would become divided into two. The South was pro-slavery and supported the idea of slavery expanded into western territories, while the North opposed of the idea and was mainly against expanding slavery. Until the 1850s the nation barely balanced the slavery issue.
Society’s values influence people to construct their personal mores around them, and those who do not are not accepted by society. In our society, those who have well-paying careers are valued above those who do not. So when McCandless decided against following the path society expects him to, his parents were upset. “Chris informed his parents that he had no intention of going to college. When Walt and Billie suggested that he needed a college degree to attain a fulfilling career, Chris answered that careers were demeaning ‘twentieth-century inventions,’ more of a liability than an asset, and that he would do fine without one, thank you” (114). The haughty tone with which he ends the sentence shows his confidence in his decision to live how he wants to live rather than how society expects him to. His parents, who McCandless sees as conformists, want him go to college so he can have a career that is “fulfilling”, which to society seems mean wealth. However, McCandless chooses not to be a conformist by rejecting the path that society deems proper and
rgumentative Essay Have you ever wondered what it means to be modern? Being modern means acting in a different way than others after realizing the consequences after it. Everyone should have an opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and show their true colors. Janie crawford was modern when she stepped out of her comfort zone and decided to stand up for herself and free herself from being someone who she wasn’t. Harrison Bergeron had an opportunity to show how smart he really was compared to the people around him who could’nt.
In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents? Friends? Enemies? Or is it even ourselves? Chris McCandless, deceased adventurer from “Into the Wild”, underwent many obstacles that seems highly ridiculous. Certain physical and mental challenges that could have prevented, Chris decided to do defying the chance of death or severe injury. But the real misunderstanding is who was Chris proving his manhood too?
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
Greg Olsen is entering his fifth season with the Carolina Panthers and become the most underrated tight end in the league in my opinion. He has no doubt become old reliable for quarterback Cam Newton to play breaks down or he just needs to find his rhythm. Olsen is coming off his best year as a pro with 84 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns that productivity resulted in his first Pro bowl selection. 2015 I predict much of the same especially with the loss of Kelvin Benjamin and the sudden inexperience at the wide receiver position. Thank you Chicago Bears for giving us one of the best tight ends in football much
James Otis had written a document “the rights of the British colonies” after parliament had passed the sugar act in 1761.Otis argued that it is the people that give power to the government.Otis also argued that if a government is found “incorrigible” , the “government should be disposed by the people.” Otis also argued that parliament deprives the colonists of their most essential rights as free man because of all the taxes parliament was enacting. But Otis did believe that “parliament has the authority to make laws for the general good of the colonies.”
It took just forty five days for United States citizens to acquiesce their rights to freedom and privacy for the sake of safety following the events of September 11, 2001. Forty five days is how long it took the United States Congress to pass a law that gave up the very concept of liberty upon which this country is founded. The morning sky was a brilliant shade of blue with not a cloud in sight in New York on that fateful day of September. That all changed at 8:45 AM when a Boeing 767 jet plane tore into the north tower of the World Trade Center. Eighteen minutes later, a second Boeing 767 bit into the sixtieth floor of the south tower. Screams and sirens pierced the air; thick, black smoke and flying debris ruined the perfectly clear

People rebel when no justice being served. It is understandable why people act a certain way. Have you ever loved someone more than yourself? A person is your biggest pride and joy to be safe? Can you imagine how it feels to no longer have your pride and joy with in a split second, due to the way they look? The exctuaray pain of a death of a child is a mother 's worst nightmare. They feel it is the only way to raise attention. In the city of Ferguson, Michael Brown was an unarmed black teen and was shot by police; this was the beginning of a wave of uprisings against police brutality nationwide.
